It was dark and stormy night the sound of rain hitting the car's windshield was deafening, he was lost in thoughts as he drove through empty roads

Something was terribly wrong

He shook his head and forced to focus on road ahead pushing aside the troubling thoughts that had been gnawing at the edges of his mind

He had 5 seconds

Only had 5 seconds to think

He reached over to the passenger seat for his phone and—

In those 5 seconds everything around him seemed to move in slow motion, a large truck accelerated directly into driver's side, he felt the violent tossing of car, the air bags didn't go off , he put a hand on wheel to lessen the blow of his head, though none of his could stop the car from rolling over on road ripping his body as the window sliced at his skin

His vision went dark for a second it slowly faded once the car had stopped rolling , the smoke filled the car and his lungs, he was hanging upside down and his ears rang painfully and tried to focus but the smoke was fogging his vision, the blood was leaking down from his face and all over the body, he saw the blurred light of the truck in the distance

Footsteps approached, the shadow of a figure, he bent down in front of the smashed car window and smiled at him

"You should welcome me back to this city" the man said with sardonic smile

"I h—have awaited y—our return"

"Wonderful, I think I have outdone myself this time let's consider it is a warm welcome from you" the man chuckled gesturing to the wreckage of car

"O-fff cours—se" the blood was leaking from his head into eyes blurring the vision oozing at a fast pace

"I do not wish to kill you for now, not when the fun is just beginning, see this is a warning, I will break you and take your business as my own and there is nothing you can do"

"We will see ab-bout tha-t" despite the pain he managed to smirk, every breath send waves of agony through his body his vision was becoming increasingly blurry

"Yes we will" the man stood from his crouched position and returned to his unharmed car

The last thing he heard was the sirens in the distance before he succumbed to the darkness

He slowly opened his eyes the world around him hazy and out of focus, as his vision cleared, he was in a stark white room and panicked before realising he was in hospital not in psych yard
The Sun streaming in through the windows, the steady beep of heart monitor filled the silence confirming he had survived the car crash

"You are finally awake" the sudden voice startled him, he looked over to his right side

"I should call the doctor" the voice repeated

"How long I was out?" his voice was hoarse as he spoke, his eyes slowly moved to her
and in that moment time seemed to stand still, the heart monitor suddenly picked up its pace betraying his racing heart, he quickly tried to compose himself feeling a wave of embarrassment and disgust wash over him

"You've been out for 3 days, took a quiet hit—" her voice tinged in panic looking at the heart monitor her eyes scanning the readout for seconds and panicked expression subsided as the heart monitor's steady rhythm returned, he composed himself just in time before the nurse could notice anything more amiss

He tried to sit up in bed and pain shot through his body
"Did anyone come while I was unconscious?" He looked at her his voice rough with exhaustion
