The sun was rising over the Hidden Leaf Village, casting long shadows as Team 7 gathered at the training grounds for their first official mission. Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura stood together, waiting for their new sensei, Kakashi, to arrive. Naruto was his usual energetic self, while Sasuke, usually cold and distant, found himself occasionally glancing at Naruto with something resembling interest. Sakura, as usual, was focused entirely on Sasuke, but who cares about her?
Naruto grinned, stretching his arms behind his head. "I can't wait to show off my skills! I'm gonna become the greatest ninja ever!"
Sasuke, trying to keep his cool, glanced at Naruto from the corner of his eye. Why does this idiot have so much energy? But deep down, he couldn't help but admire Naruto's determination. There's something about him... he thought, quickly pushing the idea away.
Sakura, oblivious to Sasuke's growing interest in Naruto, fawned over Sasuke as usual. "Sasuke-kun, today's the day we prove we're the best team!"
Naruto rolled his eyes. "Tch, don't think it's gonna be easy! I'm gonna ace this test!"
Just then, Kakashi arrived, casually strolling in as if he had all the time in the world. He eyed his new students, particularly Naruto, with a certain curiosity. This kid... there's something interesting about him, Kakashi thought to himself, even though he tried not to show it.
"Sorry I'm late," Kakashi said, his usual excuse ready. "I got lost on the path of life."
Naruto, as usual, was quick to protest. "You're late again, Kakashi-sensei! What kind of ninja shows up late?"
Kakashi waved off the complaint with a lazy hand. "Alright, alright. Let's get started with the test."
༄ The Bell Test Begins ༄
Kakashi explained the rules of the bell test, holding up two small silver bells. "Your task is to take these bells from me. If you fail, you'll be tied to those posts over there, and you won't get any lunch. Oh, and since there are only two bells, at least one of you is guaranteed to fail."
Naruto, eager to prove himself, clenched his fists. "I'm not gonna fail! I'm taking one of those bells, believe it!"
Sasuke, still pretending to be indifferent, couldn't help but notice how fired up Naruto was. He's not just all talk, Sasuke thought. This could be interesting.
Kakashi gave a lazy smile, but his eyes were sharp. "Ready? Go!"
Sakura immediately darted off to hide, thinking only of impressing Sasuke, while Naruto charged headfirst at Kakashi. Sasuke stayed back, analyzing the situation, but his eyes were frequently drawn to Naruto's relentless energy.
