The day began like any other in the Hidden Leaf Village. Team 7 had just returned from yet another exhausting day of D-rank missions, which mostly involved mundane tasks like catching lost pets, weeding gardens, and cleaning up trash. Naruto was visibly frustrated, his arms crossed as he pouted, while Sasuke and Sakura looked equally worn out, though Sasuke tried to hide it.
"This sucks!" Naruto groaned as they walked back to the village. "We're ninjas, not janitors! When are we going to get a real mission?"
Sakura, still fixated on Sasuke as usual, tried to calm Naruto down. "Naruto, we're just starting out. We have to prove ourselves first."
But Naruto wasn't having it. "Prove ourselves? I'm tired of proving myself by chasing cats! I want some action!"
Sasuke, though quiet, found himself agreeing with Naruto more than he cared to admit. The constant grunt work was tedious, and even he was itching for a challenge—something worthy of his skills. Still, he couldn't help but steal a glance at Naruto, who was bubbling with energy. He's annoying, but he's got a point.
As they made their way to the Hokage's office for their next assignment, Kakashi trailed behind, reading his book as usual. But underneath his nonchalant exterior, he was also thinking about how his team was ready for something more challenging—especially Naruto and Sasuke. They're eager, but are they ready? he thought.
Inside the Hokage's office, the Third Hokage sat behind his desk, puffing on his pipe as he regarded Team 7. Iruka was beside him, holding a scroll with the next mission details.
Naruto, as expected, was the first to speak up. "Old man Hokage, can't we get a real mission for once? Something exciting?"
The Third Hokage chuckled at Naruto's outburst. "Patience, Naruto. Missions are assigned based on the team's experience and skill level. You're still just getting started."
Kakashi stepped forward, his usual calm demeanor in place. "With all due respect, Lord Hokage, I believe my team is ready for something a bit more challenging."
Sasuke glanced at Kakashi, surprised that he was advocating for them. But then, he realized that Kakashi had probably been thinking the same thing he had that they needed to be pushed to grow stronger.
The Third Hokage considered Kakashi's words carefully, then nodded. "Very well. I think it's time to test your team's abilities with something more substantial." He looked to Iruka, who unrolled the scroll containing the details of the next mission.
