Sami is Ford's adoptive daughter. She's almost completely deaf and has vitiligo. Her parents abandoned her in the woods at 4 years old when they found she was deaf. Ford found her crying in a cave during one of his first trips into the woods of Gravity Falls, and took her in because he knows what it's like to be discriminated against for something you're born with. Her symbol on the Cipher Wheel is a lightning bolt. After the failed portal experiment, Ford starts becoming incredibly paranoid from sleep deprivation, and he freezes her in one of the cryo-chambers in the hidden lab while she's sleeping, believing it'll keep her safe from Bill. He whispers a promise to her that he'll come back for her after he's shut down the portal and defeated Bill, but he's unfortunately pushed into the portal before he could even tell his brother about her. Mabel accidentally thaws her 30 years later. She knows they're trying to find out who the author of the journals is, but she knows that Ford was very secretive about his journals, so she pretends to not know who he is. After going to the Shack and being allowed to stay, she sees the resemblance between her adoptive dad and Stan, almost mistaking him for Ford until she hears his voice. She used to sleep in the room with the electron carpet, and is sad to see the dust built-up on everything in the room and the wallpaper covering the door. When Ford comes back, he's shocked to see her, and is regretful that he froze her in the first place and for not being able to tell his brother about her.
