Greg had a daughter with his high school sweetheart when he was 20, but the girl's mother left him soon after, not wanting to be a mother. He named his daughter Suzanne, or Suzy for short. Greg took her on his tour around the country to share his music, and Rose becomes like a mother to Suzy. Her half-brother Steven is born when she's 7, and she is 19 at the start of the show. While Rose was still around, she convinced Pearl to teach Suzy archery so he could defend herself, and she joins the Crystal Gems on missions sometimes.
