Claudius' POV
A storm was rolling in on the horizon, so we made a quick detour to Clue and bought ingredients.
Because tonight? We were baking together. I suggested it, Alix agreed, and I made no mention of punishment or anything of the like. I knew it was precisely what she was anticipating.
I wanted to reward Mrs. Fontaine for bringing back Dagger. Despite my natural dislike of Spellman, Pearly's smile was all that mattered. Alix secured my sister's happiness once more. The unfortunate side of immortality was that your most monstrous side would inevitably flower and bloom at some point. I experienced that within the first decade of being an incubus. The power rotted my soul and I had no empathy. I regretted killing Spellman the moment Pearly screamed, and I knew I had to reel in my demonic tendencies from that day onward.
Of course, it had been too late – I destroyed her and her life, all in an effort to keep her in the family and under my control at the time. Back then I had the authority over the women in my family.
Now I only played the Dominant, even though I still felt like I was one naturally, without pretence. I truly desired to master Alix; to understand her, to help her, to pleasure her. She enjoyed the attention and I enjoyed the submission.
Cheeky thing, she wasn't just a brat for brat's sake either. Her naughty side was part and parcel of her intellect and her wit. I see Alix now, making faces in the cookie dough with the chocolate chips. I press in mine haphazardly while she gets artsy on hers.
It had been a relaxing afternoon in my cabin back at Koff's Holiday Park. All the other cabins were booked, it was busy outside earlier so it was extra cozy to be inside with Alix as my sole companion. No business, no drama, just my beautiful wife and I.
Both our hands are wet with dough, flour, sugar and all kinds of mess spread out on the counter. I tried to wipe it clean as we went but Alex kept rough housing the bag of flour so I gave up at some point.
"After the tray is in the oven, you can relax and play the movie, I'll clean this up," I preferred to do it my way anyway.
"Really?" Alix grins, "After all the mess I've made?"
"You've done more good today than bad," I compliment her and she genuinely looks surprised, "Although I'll admit I was worried after you almost dropped every single item you picked up at some point, the egg slipped through your fingers, you almost elbowed the sugar off the counter etc."
"Well, I can't believe you fumbled and dropped the whole bottle of vanilla essence into the batter," Alix shakes her head, making me scowl because she's accusing me of being clumsy when she knew what she did, "This is going to taste... interesting."
"I spilled it because you whacked my buttocks with the rolling pin," I growl over her head as she dares to look smug about it.
"Did you say b-buttocks, Fontaine? Couldn't resist beating my Dominant's ass – just once," Alix giggles, grins and grabs another ball of dough, smacking it to the baking paper and pressing it out.
"You'll pay for it later," I whisper next to her ear, one little tease under my breath and she's already breathless as red crawls up her neck. She's so easy.
"This half," Alix side-steps away from me, motioning to half the tray, "For the company tomorrow, assuming the cookies don't spontaneously combust from the overdose of essence in the oven. Are you really going to make Dagger fuck some innocent girl until her soul leaves her body tomorrow, Claudius?" Alix mumbles this under her breath.
I lean my side on the counter as I turn into her to explain, "In truth it is not necessary, but Dagger may hurt Pearly if he's not satisfying the drive of an incubus. If he tries to fight it forever, then my sister will be the sole one taking that burden and I won't have that. With one slip of control he might kill her, no matter how much he loves her... it also ensures he's initiated properly into the group, we all have murders on our hands... an incubus is much harder to maintain, I prefer Dagger learns with my eye on him," I stop making cookies and wash my hands, there's only a bit of dough left anyway. I know what Alix is going to suggest next so I add, "No, you're not coming to the meeting. That's final," my voice drops an octave to convey my meaning. I hope she stops pressing the issue. I won't budge. For this Alix will have to obey or she'll end up bound and gagged to our bed while the meeting takes place.
