The bell rang as I slumped out of my chair and stretched. "Finally class was over" I pulled my curly dark brown hair into a messy bun as I straighten out my cheerleader uniform. I grabbed my giant book that read English 101 and my notebook stuffing it into my backpack as I  guided  it onto my backpack , I walked over to Olivia and the gang who were already at the door as we packed into our circle. "That must have been the worse class Mr. Al has ever teached." Olivia the head cheer girl said. We all shook our heads together giggling walking out the door, Walking out into the overly crowded long hallway toward our lockers, the other students wiped and shoved us gossiping and sidetracked about something. " what is going on" I say to the rest of the girl who look just as confused as I am. Olivia turned to us putting her hands on her hip. " I don't know but I'm sure as hell am going to find out". Just as Olivia said  that, a girl with pigtail who looked like she shopped at toys are Us runs up to us. " Did you guys hear" her pigtails bounced as she slurred her words, "Some person put party invites in everyone's lockers" We all looked at each-other as everyone but me ran to their lockers. I shook my head as the girl with the pigtail stared at me like a stray puppy with no owner. " who do you think it's from " she saids as I start walking to my locker, her voice was like nails on a chalkboard. " how should I know" I say grumbling "I'm not a fortune teller" I roll my eyes walking up the stairs as she tagged along. Scooting past a small group I overhear them talking. " It has to be someone rich like a millionaire to be able to invited everyone at our school"  some boy saids letting out a ugly snorts of a laugh, Turning up the last stairwell I turned around to face the nerdy little girl. " this is where you get off, I need my space " as I looked at her she kinda freaked me out. her eyes look dull and blank like no one was home.  She stuck out her right hand reveling a parchment envelope. " Someone told me to make sure to give this to you by hand, he said that it was special". I lifted a eyebrow at her as I took the envelope" who did" I asked? She smiled. Big as she slowly turned to walk back down the stairs " he told me not to tell you, just save the last dance for him" she giggled As she rushed down the stair and back into the mob of gossiping students. I watched her skip off into the crowd as I looked down at the vanilla parchment paper envelope in my hand. To Miss Skyler Lewis it read, I gazed upon the hand writing. It was so elegant and neat like something you would see back in the eighteen hundreds. I flipped it over gazing at the wax seal that held everything together. It had a capital K and M melted Into it. I gently opened it as I pulled out a folded piece of parchment paper. Unfolding it I read what it said.

I stare at the paper as I read it over and over again. "Why in gods name would a stranger just invite a whole high school to a masquerade ball. I continue to read it as Something touches my back, I jump getting startled by a voice behind me. " OMG YOU GOT ONE TOO " I shake as I look behind me to the owner of the voice. "Jessica, How many time do I need to tell you Not to sneak up on me like that " I let out a soft laugh." She giggles as she wrap her arm around my neck as she pulls me in for a hug." Sorry I forgot how much of a scaredy cat you are" I hit her Softy as I pull away from her and walk up the stairs. " I'm not scared you just caught me at a bad time that's all " I say trying to hide my embarrassment. Making it up the stairs I turned the corner as I walk to my locker. " anyway I don't know if I'm going?" she give me a disgusted face as she smirks. " Ya right, you miss a party, don't make me laugh" she let out a sorry excuse of a fake laughs. I opened my locker as I slid my bag off my shoulder. Pulling out my English book and notebook throwing it and the letter into my locker and shutting it. " Were going to be late for Cheerleading practice if we don't hurry up, you know how Olivia get when were late." we jog down the stairs and out the double doors talking about our day
