Months later, life had settled into a new normal. Jack and I were still together, and our relationship had grown stronger with each passing day. Max had come around completely, and the three of us were closer than ever.
We spent weekends together, just like before, and even planned another trip back to the cabin the following summer. There were still moments of awkwardness, but they were becoming fewer and farther between. Max even started teasing us, just like he always had, which felt like a huge step forward.
One evening, as we all sat around the table in our house, sharing dinner and stories from the day, I realized just how lucky I was. I had my brother, my boyfriend, and my best friend all in one place. It wasn't the journey I had expected, but it was one I wouldn't trade for anything.
As we laughed and talked, I felt a deep sense of contentment. The road hadn't been easy, but we had made it through together. And in the end, that's what mattered most.
Love, in all its forms, had brought us together, and it would keep us together, no matter what challenges lay ahead.
And that was the true happy ending.
