As the days inched closer to Payal and Akash’s wedding, the Raizada and Gupta households became a whirlwind of activity. Preparations were in full swing, with every detail meticulously planned. Yet, amidst the chaos, both Khushi and Arnav struggled with their internal battles, each trying to make sense of their emotions and the uncertainty of their impending marriage.

### **The Raizada Mansion: An Unexpected Encounter**

Arnav had always prided himself on his ability to compartmentalize his life. Work had always been his refuge, a place where he could assert control and keep his emotions at bay. But lately, even that control seemed to be slipping. The company’s accounts still needed attention, and the investigation into the discrepancies was ongoing. But no matter how much he buried himself in work, thoughts of Khushi continued to intrude.

One evening, after a particularly long day, Arnav decided to take a break and step outside for some fresh air. The garden at the Raizada mansion was one of the few places where he could find some semblance of peace. The scent of jasmine filled the air as he walked along the stone pathway, the cool breeze offering some relief from the tension that had been building within him.

As he rounded a corner, he was surprised to find someone already in the garden—Khushi. She stood by the fountain, her back to him, lost in thought. Her presence here was unexpected, but then again, their lives had become so intertwined that these encounters were becoming more frequent.

For a moment, Arnav considered turning back, not wanting to disturb her. But something in the way she stood, the slight slump of her shoulders, made him pause. There was a vulnerability about her that drew him in, even when he tried to resist.

Clearing his throat to announce his presence, Arnav stepped forward. "Khushi."

Startled, Khushi turned around, her eyes widening slightly as she saw him. "Arnavji, I didn’t realize you were here."

"I didn’t expect to see you either," Arnav replied, his tone softer than usual. He studied her for a moment, noticing the faint lines of worry on her face. "Is everything alright?"

Khushi managed a small smile, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. "Yes, everything’s fine. I just needed a moment to clear my head."

Arnav nodded, understanding all too well the need for solitude. "The wedding preparations must be exhausting."

"They are," Khushi admitted, "but it’s not just that. There’s a lot on my mind."

Arnav felt a pang of guilt. He knew that their engagement, with all its uncertainties, was likely one of the things weighing on her. "Khushi, if there’s something bothering you… you can talk to me."

Khushi looked at him, surprised by the offer. She hadn’t expected him to be so forthcoming, but there was a sincerity in his eyes that made her feel as though he genuinely wanted to help. "It’s just… everything is happening so fast. Sometimes I feel like I’m being swept along by a current that I can’t control."

Arnav nodded, understanding her sentiment more than he cared to admit. "I know the feeling."

There was a silence between them, not uncomfortable, but heavy with the weight of unspoken thoughts. The sound of the water from the fountain filled the air, a calming presence amidst the turmoil in their minds.

Finally, Arnav spoke again, his voice low. "Khushi, I’m not good at this—at talking about feelings. But I want you to know that… you’re not alone in this. I know I’m not the easiest person to be around, but I’m trying. I want to make this work, for both our sakes."

Khushi’s heart softened at his words. She could see that he was struggling, that this was as difficult for him as it was for her. "I appreciate that, Arnavji. And I’m trying too. I know this isn’t what either of us expected, but maybe… maybe we can find a way to make it work."
