.THE UNICORN AND THE WASP 1 !

THE TARDIS SHATTERED TO A HALT, the familiar woosh fading into a soft hum as we landed just inside the grounds of a grand old manor house.

"Oh, smell that air, Audrey!" he said, drawing in a deep breath walking out of the TARDIS with a slight grin. "Grass and lemonade. And a little bit of mint. A hint of mint. Must be the nineteen twenties." I followed him out, my shoes clicking softly on the gravel outside. The sun was warm, casting a golden hue over the sprawling grounds. Rows of roses lined the path, and a stately oak tree shaded part of the lawn.

"You can tell what year it is just by smelling?" I asked, trying to hide my grin as I looked at Donna.

"Oh, yeah." He replied in a cool voice.

"Or maybe that big vintage car coming up the drive gave it away," Donna called, stepping out of the TARDIS with her hands on her hips. I glanced up in time to see the car pull in, Two servants appeared at the entrance, The butler, gave us all a cursory glance before turning his attention to the new arrival.

"Good afternoon, Professor Peach," Greeves said.

"Hello, Greeves, old man," the Professor replied, at  that moment, a young vicar pedaled up on a bicycle, his cassock billowing slightly in the breeze. I watched as they greeted each other. Greeves turned his gaze to the Reverend.

"Lady Eddison requests you make yourselves comfortable in your rooms. Cocktails will be served on the lawn from half past four."

"Cocktails on the lawn," Donna muttered. "Now that sounds more like it."

"Go on up," Professor Peach said, adjusting his spectacles. "I need to check something in the library."

The Man tilted his head. "Oh?"

"Alone," Peach added and I squinted "It's supposed to be a party. All this work will be the death of you."

I stiffened slightly my gaze drifted to the Doctor I noticed something was off, my head turned to face the doctor and wondered if he noticed too, but he was too busy eavesdropping.

"Never mind Planet Zog," Donna whispered to me, nudging my shoulder. "A party in the nineteen twenties—that's more like it." I smiled faintly.

"The trouble is," the Doctor mused, pulling out his Psychic paper  from his jacket pocket, "we haven't been invited."

He paused for dramatic effect, then wiggled his eyebrows at Donna and me. "Oh, I forgot. Yes, we have." And He turned the paper over, and there it is—the name Doctor John Smith neatly printed in elegant cursive, along with two guests: Miss Audrey Rivers and Miss Donna Noble. We passed the manor and walked to an open lawn just behind the building and went back into the TARDIS.

DONNA WAS TAKING INCREDABLY LONG but I couldn't blame her a party in the 1920's we had to look good but I could tell the Doctor was being inpatient and I put a hand on his shoulder. "We'll be late for cocktails"  he knocked on the TARDIS door we had changed our original clothing into more appropriate attire. The TARDIS door creaked open Donna come out.

"What do you think?" she asked with a grin  "Flapper or slapper?"

I stifled a giggle, glancing over at the Doctor, who was already clad in his classic brown suit.

"Definitely flapper," I said with a smile. "You look amazing, Donna."

"And you, Aud? You look lovely as ever." She gestured to my vintage gown—simple but elegant, a light cream color with lace sleeves. I hadn't thought I could pull off the look but I gathered nonetheless and took Donna's hand and we strode off into the lawn where the party was being held.
