Isaac's Diary, Entry 7/30/24:

It's been a month and a half since Arthur and I last talked. He had stopped trying to reach out. His desperate texts stopped coming, I stopped receiving his confused voicemails that turned into an angry plea. That doesn't mean I didn't stop replaying them. It hurt me to hear him so angry and disappointed in me, it hurt me worse to hear him anguished, however I yearned for his voice, his harsh words giving me some comfort. I craved his touch, I ached to hear his laugh and see his smile.

I withdrew myself from any social circles that had Arthur in it and I stopped replying to group chats. Fans had been speculating ever since the second episode of our podcast that didn't feature me dropped. Ever since we unfollowed each other, our fans had all pretty much agreed that we aren't friends anymore.

I signed up for a dating app. I have a date with a girl tomorrow. She seems nice, she's looking to settle down, have kids, grow old with someone. She is really pretty, her name's Charlotte. We're going to a coffee shop that's only a few blocks away from Arthur's apartment.

Arthur:

"And that's a wrap, thanks everyone." I say to the crew, with a wide smile, as I get up from the couch.

"Hey, Arthur can we talk?" Laura asked as I made my way over to her. After every episode we always talk about our plans for the next one, so we are working together and communicating basically everyday. At this point I wouldn't call her a colleague, I would call her a friend. Ever since the falling out with Isaac, i've been going to her with my problems. Something of a confidant.

"Yeah, sure" I say as I follow her into her office, assuming we'd be talking about the guest we're having on our next podcast.

"You need to tell me what's going on, it's hurting views." I heard Laura say as I sat down across from her.

"What do you mean? tell you about what?" I asked confused, tilting my head slightly to the side, my eyebrows furrowing in confusion.

"With you and Isaac, he sent me an email, telling me he's busy and will have to take a break. That's not Isaac, something happened. You don't break off a successful podcast because you're 'busy'" She said putting up air quotes with her fingers around busy, "I love you Arthur, but you're not exactly the most sociable guy. We need Isaac on here to help host this guest. You and him pair so well together. Having only you on this podcast is just awkward, you need someone to bounce off of." She said with a frown.

"I'm just a clueless as you." I said shrugging, telling her the partial truth. It was true that I don't know why he went ghost, but it's not like I didn't have a good idea. I also definitely didn't want to come out to Laura in this type of situation.

"Don't play dumb with me Arthur. No one just falls off the face of the earth, especially not Isaac" She said giving me a bored look.

Sighing in frustration, I pinched the bridge of my nose, "It's complicated, and I don't know the full story." I say quietly, as I fold my hands in front of me. Swallowing the vomit that threatens to come up. Glancing up at Laura before looking down at my hands.

...

"I might be jumping to conclusions here, but I wouldn't be surprise if he feels the same way about you" Laura says shrugging, nodding her head.

Despite Laura's cold demeanor, she was really great to talk too. It felt nice to get my feelings for Isaac off my chest, despite it being extremely nerve wracking. Laura promised to not say anything about this to the crew or press.

"I think you should call him again. He might pick up. Absent makes the heart grow fonder. Knowing Isaac, he's probably beating himself up about this. He just wants you to call again. If he doesn't pick up or text you back or something, you can call it quits." Laura says leaning back in her chair.

"You actually think?" I asked looking up at her with hope in my eyes and a small smile.

"Yeah, you don't have to do it now, but do it when you're comfortable, if you're comfortable with it." She says reassuringly, "We can talk about the next episode tomorrow, I think you should go and sleep on this tonight." She says standing up.

As I drove home to my apartment, with a small smile and a glimmer of hope. I glanced down at my phone, the conversation I had with Laura, swirling with in my head.
