Alec felt as if he hadn't gotten any sleep that night. He did, he really did. His mom made sure of that. She had convinced him not to go to work and stay home and sleep since he has school the next day. "You've been working hard all summer, Alec. Take a break. One night shouldn't hurt. And you need the sleep for school and right now your education is more important than money. Call your boss and tell them that you can't come tonight. You need sleep." She had said. Alec nodded and he was so tired he couldn't refuse. But he knew as soon as he got to school, his boss would be pissed. "Good morning." His mom opened the door and walked to his bed. Alec sat up. He blinked in the early morning light and shivered when the cool air hit his warm shirtless body. She gave him a hug. "Did you sleep well?" She asked. Alec shook his head and his mother frowned. "Why not? You didn't go to work and you went to bed early. Why are you so tired?" She asked him. He shrugged. "I don't like waking up early and I guess I just needed more sleep." Alec said in his deep morning voice. "I don't think you should work the night shift for work." Quin shook her head. Alec looked at her. "Why?" He asked. "Isn't it obvious? You're not sleeping well. You get tired throughout the day and sometimes last year you couldn't focus. You need to rest and I'm getting worried. Sleep is important." She told him. Alec sighed. "I know. I just don't want us in debt anymore and I've been doing all I can for extra pay." He said. Quin started shaking him. "Well, look for a different shift and don't work overnight. It's not good for your health. Or quit and get a higher paying job." She said. Alec looked down. "Okay?" She pressed. Alec looked at her. "I'll see what I can do.. If that makes you happy." He said. But to his disappointment his mom frowned. "It's not for me, it's for you.You're the one having troubles. I'm doing what's best for you. I don't want you overworked or stressed." She said to him, eyes round with worry. "Okay. I'll see if I can talk to her." Alec reassured his stressed mother. She smiled and gave him a big hug. "Thanks to you we've been making good money. We can afford bills now and upgrade things. We can fix things around the house and feed us all now.
