Katsuki sighed, it had been a long day. He had been training Kaz for hours, and trying to teach a four year old how powerful he was, and how to control it was like trying to teach a cat to herd sheep. Ochako was putting him to bed, so he went and sat on the couch. He usually waited until he was asleep to go home, because sometimes, depending on how the training had gone, Kaz would want to say goodnight to him. He liked to talk to Ochako too. He smiled as Uraraka came and sat across from him.
"He mad at me?" Katsuki said with a small smirk, "I didn't do shit to him. Pretty much just tried to explain shit."
"He's upset. Yes."
The smirk fell away "Why?"
"He doesn't understand why he can't call you daddy."
"I explained that too."
"I know. I think it just.. Hurts. H-he doesn't remember Deku. He doesn't understand."
Katsuki sighed "I don't know what I'm supposed to do about that."
"Me either." Ochako sighed, "M-maybe he can call you dad.. Afterall, th-that is what you are to him, Katsuki he-"
Katsuki shook his head, Kaz was the closest thing he would have to a son, but he wasn't his son."That is the last piece of Deku I have. I am not going to start-"
"But he's not Deku." Ochako whimpered "He will never be Deku! He's Kaz, and he loves you! He loves you like his dad."
"And I love him like a son! But I can't hurt Deku's legacy like that."Ochako looked at her knees sadly, but she nodded, she didn't like that Katsuki saw her son as a mere extension of Deku, she knew that it was how most people thought of him, but Katsuki was pretty much his dad, and even he didn't seem to see him as his own person.
"You act like Deku's going to come home." Ochako sighed, "he's not. I'm his widow, and Kaz is our son, but that doesn't mean you make your role in this house any less important."
Katsuki sighed, he hated the feelings he had for Ochako, he wished he just saw her Deku's widow. It would make things so much easier. He stood up."I'm going to check on Kaz."
She nodded "Okay."Katsuki looked at her with a sigh, he didn't want to talk about their relationship. He knew she wondered what he thought about her, but he also knew that if he quit thinking about Kaz as Deku's son, and Ochako as his widow, it was a slippery slope into being disrespectful. He went to see Kaz, he peeked inside, a sad smile coming to his lips and the child looked at him with sleepy eyes. That mop of green hair, his sun dappled cheeks, when he first saw Kaz, he had thought of him as a miniature Deku, but now, when he looked at him, he saw Ochako's eyes, her smile.. It made him feel like he was losing his best friend. Of course he knew Kaz was Kaz, he wasn't Ochako or Deku, he was his own person. He just.. Wasn't sure how to reconcile it. He went and sat at the food of Kaz's bed and stroked his hair.
"Kaz. You know I love you, right?"
"But you won't be my daddy."
"No. I will never be your daddy, because your daddy was the greatest man I ever knew! I could never replace him."
"But I love you Kacchan!" He whimperedKatsuki felt his eyes brimming with tears, all he could see was Deku. He wrapped his arms around him and held him tight. "I love you too. I do! I love you like my son, but I love your daddy too, and I can't disrespect him by letting you call me dad."
"okay." He said softly
"You can call me Kacchan though. There's only one other person who has ever had that privilege."
"Okay Kacchan."
"I love you."
"I love you too." Katsuki sighed, kissing the top of his head"Goodnight Kaz." He sighed
"Goodnight Kacchan." Katsuki sighed and went out to the living room, looking at Ochako
She looked at him with a sigh, "How are you feeling?"
He sighed, wrapping his arms around her and hugging her.
"We love you, Katsuki. You're a member of our family."
Katsuki huffed, looking at her and nodding his head. "I love you both too."Ochako looked at him with a sigh, "Do you really still look at me as Deku's widow after.."
Katsuki huffed "You are Deku's widow. The fact that I fucked you doesn't change that."
"I-I guess that's true." She murmured, looking at her toesHe sighed, grabbing her chin and moving her eyes to meet his.
"You're also my soulmate, and I love you." He sighed, "but that night was a mistake. We had both been drinking, it won't happen again." he said it, but he doubted it a little bit. He was going to try to behave himself, things didn't need to be any more complicated than they were.
Ochako nodded sadly
He rolled his eyes "Maybe we should both just start dating different people. That would make that easier." He knew that they were both busy, but he thought it would be easy not to hurt Kaz if they didn't act like a couple."I won't find anyone else interested in me."
"Bullshit. I've seen the way men look at you." It had pissed him off since high school."I'm the late number one hero's widow."
"Won't stop most men. Not like Deku can kick their ass now.""Well.. No. But you could."
"Why would I kick their asses?" He rolled his eyes "we're not dating."
"I feel like you might get possessive once I.." She shook her head, "Maybe you have a point."
"Once you what?"
"Start to... Show.""Start to what?"
"Show."
Katsuki's heart fell from is chest, he had to marry her. this was going to be awful for Kaz. He shook his head.
"I-I'm sorry, but I just."
he shook his head "No more your fault than it is mine. Now we need to talk about how to handle this in a way that doesn't hurt Kaz.""I don't think there is one. It's why I told you maybe you should let him call you dad. B-because I assume this child will get to call you dad."
Katsuki sighed "I don't know."
"You don't know?"
"I mean.. It wouldn't be fair." He frowned, he would need to marry her. If Deku's widow was having his kid.. She would need to be his wife. "we're getting married. Within the month tell people I knocked you up on the honeymoon."Ochako nodded sadly "O-okay."
Katsuki sighed, "We'll tell Kaz tomorrow.""Okay."
Katsuki hugged her gently "It's going to be okay. I-I promise." he sighed, those poor kids. He was hardly fit to be a father.. and now he was going to a father of two, and if Ochako's last name was about to be Bakugo.. that would probably hurt Kaz. He was probably creating a new all for one with his selfishness. He sighed, he was going to have to move into this house too, the house Deku had bought for Ochako, to fill with their children. He felt like a monster. He had betrayed Deku. All it took was one too many drinks, and he ruined everything.Ochako frowned "I-I'm sorry Katsuki." She felt awful. She missed Deku terribly, but he had told her to move on. He had told her he didn't want her to die alone. She knew that this child wouldn't change how either of them felt about Kaz. She knew that both of their reputations would take a hit, but she also had no doubt that Katsuki would be a fantastic father figure to both of her children.
"I love you Katsuki."
"I love you cheeks." Katsuki huffed, "I'll stay the night, if that's okay."
She nodded "I'm sorry. Maybe I should have waited to tell you."
He shook his head "I'm glad you didn't wait. We need to get ahead of this. Though there aren't many ways to spin this that don't look bad." He sighed, he was too tired to think about this.. But he had a feeling he wouldn't be sleeping that night, not that he usually slept well. Ochako sighed,"I'm going to stay here if that's okay."
"Of course." She sighed
"How much more damage could I do." He huffed with a self deprecating laughOchako laughed in return, leading him to her bedroom, she changed into her pajamas, Katsuki took off most of his armor, leaving on his shirt and his pants and climbing into the bed with her. It felt too right, wrapping his arms around her in the same bed she had shared with Deku. He supposed he had slept in this bed before. He kissed her head with a sigh.
"Love you, cheeks."
"I love you too, Katsuki."
He cringed as he turned out the light. Deku had given his life for him, and in return he had ruined Deku's legacy.
