THEA'S POV:

She was acting weird.

I had never seen her be that rude to someone, especially not to a stranger. I looked at Maggie but she just shrugged. I was about to follow my mother into the house when Uncle Hershel and the police officer came out, "Maggie, can you grab some maps of the area so we can help these folks? Thea, go grab your mother, She can probably help. Then go ahead and start your chores, get Bethy and Jimmy too.".

"Okay, Uncle Hershel", I ran into the house, to my mother's room. I found her sobbing into a pillow on the floor, in the corner of the room.

"Ma, what's wrong?", she quickly stood up wiped her face and hid something in her drawer. "Nothing. Do you need something?", she acted as if she wasn't crying.

"Uncle Hershel needs your help outside.".

"Okay. I'll be out soon", I watched her wipe her face one last time before I walked out. I went to the room I shared with Beth and poked my head in to see Jimmy and her. They were sitting on her bed playing a board game.

"Hey Beth, your dad wants us to start on our chores.".

"Okay, we're coming".

Soon after Beth and Jimmy followed me out of the house as everyone else gathered around the old pickup truck looking at the maps Maggie spread out. I tried to stay close enough to hear what they were discussing until Mama came out of the house.

"You don't need to be over here. Go help Patricia with the barn.".

"I don't want to", I protested.

"I'm not going to repeat myself. Go do what I said".

I rolled my eyes as she walked towards the truck and I walked to the chicken coop to help Patricia.

ELIZABETH'S POV:

I walked up to the truck and stood next to Hershel with Daryl standing directly across from me. The men were talking about a missing little girl from the group. After Hershel shot down the two of the men from volunteering due to blood loss and an injured ankle, Daryl quickly volunteered. "Okay, why don't you go with him, Elizabeth? I'm sure he could use some help and you know the area well.".

I didn't really want to be in any space with Daryl especially not alone but there was a little girl out there by herself with these monsters and I would want someone to try their hardest if it was my little girl out there.

" I'm sure I know a couple of spots we could check out". I quickly looked up to see Daryl a little shocked by my quick agreement in helping him. I swiftly looked back down to the maps to avoid his eyes.

"I can still be useful. I'll drive up to the interstate and see if Sophia wandered back", the man with the buzz cut suggested.

"Alright, tomorrow then. We'll start doing this right", the man in the police uniform stated. Glenn said their name but I was so distracted by Daryl's presence I couldn't remember them. The conversation was geared toward having guns and gun training. I'm not completely opposed to it considering I knew how to use one being taught by David but I also knew that more guns and more people around meant accidents were bound to happen and this is what Hershel was trying to avoid.

" First things first: set up camp, find Sophia.", the officer laid out their plan.

"I hate to be the one to ask but someone's got to. What happens if we find her and she's bit? I think we all should be clear on how we handle that.", the man with the buzz cut spoke again.
