"See you at the sleepover!" Ebony said, hugging me tightly.

"Yeah, see you soon!" I said, hugging her back.

My mum honked her horn, and I ran over, getting into the car and flinging my bag in.

"So how was school?" My mum asked, starting the engine.

"It was good. Mrs Hawthorn got mad because Ebs came in late as she had been getting her meds!" I yapped.

"Did she tell the teacher she had been getting them?" My mum asked.

"Yes!"

My mum parked the car, and we both got out.

"I think Isaac needs deodorant or some glitter to spice up his life." I said.

"Agreed." My mum said smiling as she picked up a basket.

"Dad said he's going to the movies with his friends. Probably bringing chicks and going to makeout with Deilah." I blabbered, grimacing.

"Deilahs lovely." My mum mused.

"Such a lovely brat." I said as we both burst out laughing. Deilah was the opposite of lovely. She had stolen money from my dad's wallet and told my mum to lay back and let Isaac and her have some alone time with his door locked.

"Ooh, Isaac might like these!" My mum said, picking up some gaming headsets with mics.

"Yeah, he's a boy all boys like them." I said, shrugging.

"What are you going to get him?" My mum asked, putting them in the basket.

"Food."

"You go do that whilst I get some food for his lunch." She said.

I wandered off to the sweets section.

He liked sour patch and doritoes.

I grabbed random packets and then paid, making my way back to the car. I chucked the stuff in the back and texted my mum where I was.

When my mum finally came back, it was half five. She rushed in and started the car.

"What's the rush?" I asked as she pulled out swinging the car dangerously.

"Nothing, don't worry." She said.

We made it to the roundabout. The car behind cut through and barged into the side of us. The car flipped over, landing on top of the circle. I hung upside down in shock.

"Mum, mum!" I screamed as the car rammed into us again.

"Hold on, love, and squeeze your eyes shut." She shrieked as the car did another flip, knocking me out cold.

I woke up in the hospital. I had only a few cuts considering the horrific crash. But my mum, on the other hand.

The doctors told me she had seen me unconscious and had thrown herself over to me, protecting me from the car smashing into my side. The car had so much force that it had completely broken the car in half. My mum had been fired out landing on the road, her bones broken and her body bloodied.

"Where is she? I want my mum!" I said, my voice rising all panicked.

A doctor placed a gentle hand on my arm, forcing me back down. They nodded to another doctor and then turned their attention back on me.

"She didn't make it."

Those haunted words. They will forever swirl around my head. Unwanted. But needed.
