Sebastian got confused about their disappearance. His phone then showed an EAS alert.
[WARNING; THE RAIN HAS BEEN DETECTED AS NEGATIVE PH AND WILL SLOWLY ERODE EVERYTHING. THE RAIN WILL NOT END ANYTIME SOON. PLEASE SPEND THESE PRECIOUS FLEETING TIME WITH YOUR FAMILY. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.] Sebastian got shocked.
"What...?" Sebastian thought to himself.
He then proceeds to head towards the bus door. He then sticks his left hand, and feels a throbbing pain on his hand. The pain of a thousand needles.
Sebastian yelps as he held his hand, which began to itch. Before getting his backpack, and place it on top of his head. He then proceeds to a nearby raincoat store. There's nobody there.
Sebastian then grabs a raincoat, three raincoats actually, and layer them all before heading towards a nearby café.
Near the café, he saw a group of fireflies. The fireflies were dancing near a plant. One then approaches Sebastian, before it secretes something, and melts his raincoat. Terrified, Sebastian rushed back to the raincoat store and grabbed a heck ton of raincoats, before coming back running to the café.
At the café, Sebastian saw an enigmatic lady.
"So, you've heard the news?" The lady asked.
"Uhhh... Who are you?" Sebastian asked
"Abigail." The lady answered.
"This café cannot hold its structure anytime sooner. But you can rest here for a while." Abigail explained.
Sebastian then took a drink from the fridge.
"Where's the cocky owner anyways?" Sebastian asked.
"He went outside to prove the eas alarm is wrong. He completely melted." Abigail answered.
"Geez..." Sebastian said.
"What happened? Why does the rain suddenly turn deadly?" Sebastian asked.
"I don't know" Abigail answered.
"Wait... I forgot my mother!" Sebastian suddenly realized.
"What happened to her?" Sebastian asked.
"Are you that kid on Bob Street?" Abigail asked.
"How did you know?" Sebastian got shocked.
"All the houses there completely eroded. And nobody survived" Abigail said.
"..." Sebastian went silent.
"Ah.. I understand." Sebastian said.
"Also, you've already knew that the fireflies outside are extremely deadly. Right?" Abigail asked.
"Yes. Why are they suddenly agressive?" Sebastian asked.
"Well, it is because the fireflies prolonged exposure to the rain, which caused them to mutate and started hunting for cells to neutralize itself. They can hunt prey from body heat, and they will secrete a strong acid, to dissolve the victim's body, then suck their cells to neutralize theirselves." Abigail explained.
"Be careful with them" Abigail continued.
"Ah.. So that's why"
"Anyways, wanna head into my bunker and stay there for a while? We really need to gather survivors." Abigail invited Sebastian.
"Uh yes? As long as you don't kill me." Sebastian reluctantly agrees.
"Also, i made this, here; stay safe there." Abigal gave Sebastian a shotgun.
"It's a modified shotgun, pretty harmless when shot at people. But i have found out that the shotgun is an effective protection towards them." Abigail grabs Sebastian's arm, points the shotgun at her chest, then pulled the trigger, before a powdery explosion hits Abigail, leaving a huge mess on her clothes.
"What..?" Sebastisn got confused.
"It's powdered silica made from burning quartz." Abigail explained.
"Why do you make this? Who are 'they'?"
"Because, some people who consumed the water could mutate and turn into mindless zombies. And i found that they are weak to this handy gun."
"May i ask one more thing?" Abigail asked
"?"
"What's your name?" She asked again.
"Sebastian..."
"Well, the hunt begins, Sebastian."
