five years.
five whole years.
ever since that incident, dandy the dandelion has become completely alone.
he remembered being around so many other toons like him..
goob..
astro..
even meaner ones like shrimpo..
but now, they were gone, all because that giant pipe of ichor exploded and swept them away.
now, the only toon aside from dandy that was still around..was his poor, little stone pooch named pebble.
currently, he was sitting in his little shop with pebble sitting down on his lap, he would usually be smiling happily most of the time, but his face only showed both a frown and saddened eyes.
"oh, pebbles, it's become so lonely here..I don't think I'll be able to stay here alone any longer.." dandy said to himself as pebbles whimpered sadly.
"I simply just wished that the other toons were still here, I really do.." dandy mumbled.
"..I just wish there was some way to bring them back.."
dandy sat there sadly for a few minutes, letting him think to himself, when suddenly, an old memory resurfaced, one that was hidden in the back of his head for ages.
he remembered hearing rumors of a truly strange and magical book.
the rumors said that one of the specific books in the library..was completely blank.
no title, no author, no words, nothing.
the thing that was magical about it was..you could write your own story into that book.
..and whatever story you wrote in it would become real, as long as the story had a cohesive beginning, middle, and end that went together smoothly.
after dandy remembered about it, he had an idea.
"..wait, there might actually be a way!"
dandy suddenly felt a smile grow on his face as pebble looked at him in confusion before being picked up.
"i-i think I know a way to bring the toons back! I think I know a way to bring ALL of the toons back!" dandy said gleefully as he spun around with pebble in his arms.
"come on pebbles! we must go to the library ASAP! follow me!" as soon as dandy finished his sentence, he quickly placed pebble back down before running off with pebble quickly following behind him.
it was a bit of a long search, but eventually, dandy finally managed to find the library entrance and went through.
although dandy was trying his best to keep Gardenview clean after all these years, the library still had a few large cobwebs scattered everywhere, it's shelves and books were coated in thick layers of dust, and the carpet was course and rough, eventhough it was originally soft and fluffy.
pebble looked up at dandy, seemingly in confusion on why they had ran into the library in the first place.
"pebble, you may not know about this, but I once heard rumors about a magical book being here, it's said that whatever you wrote in it becomes real! which means if I am able to write a story about my friends coming back, then they will come back in real life! I just need to find it..it should be easy to look for though, it's completely blank after all!" dandy explained to pebble as he started to look through shelves.
for atleast 8 minutes straight, dandy kept looking through different shelves and books to see if any of them were blank, though sadly, all of the books he was seeing were not just written, he remembered reading most of them.
he was beginning to worry that those rumors were really just rumors, that the blank book wasn't real.
until eventually, while looking through what was labeled as the "classic children's writers" section..his eyes spotted something wedged between two random hard-covers.
a small dark red book..with absolutely no words on its spine.
"..could it be?" dandy mumbled as he slowly grabbed the book out of the shelf.
it was absolutely covered with dust, but as dandy blew it all off..he found out there was nothing on the front.
no title, no author, not even any mention of an illustrator.
the back was blank aswell, no summary of the story whatsoever.
finally, dandy opened the book up and smiled with glee as he saw there was absolutely no text in any of the pages.
he had found it.
the blank book.
"perfect..absolutely perfect! come on pebble, let's start writing and get our friends back!" dandy said as pebble barked happily.
eventually, dandy managed to run back to his little shop as he grabbed a box of crayons and opened the book, but as he was about to put a crayon near it, he stopped.
"wait..what kind of story should I write in this to get my friends back?" dandy said to himself.
"I feel like if I just write about my friends coming back with seemingly no true reason behind it, it wouldn't work..but just what kind of tale should I tell in this?" dandy mumbled as he started brainstorming.
"maybe..some kind of fantasy story? where everything is magical and- no..how about something a bit more scary, like a horror sto-- no, no..or what about a story with aliens?!..no, that wouldn't work at all..ah, just what do I do?" dandy said as he scratched his head.
while he was trying to figure out what to do however, he suddenly noticed that pebble had vanished..only to see him running back with a book in his mouth.
"what is this?.."Clea and the sweet shop?"..why did you bring me this?" dandy said as he opened the book up and started reading.
it was quite a short book, but after reading the book and it's tale about a young girl entering a magical sweet shop with four other people that each end up getting into crazy candy-inspired accidents, from being stuck in a vat of marshmallow fluff to getting attacked by a horde of gummy rabbits, the story and how it followed a sort of "certain character going through a special accident and disappearing for the rest of the story" formula, dandy had gotten an idea as he opened the blank book again.
"I..I think I have an idea now!" dandy said loudly as he began writing his story's first few sentences, which were all in rhyme, obviously.
"once there was a place called Gardenview, a land full of glee"
"many toons lived within in, they lived happily and free"
"but after an incident occurred one faithful night"
all of the toons vanished leaving a single flower in fright"
"however, he had a plan to get his friends back"
"he let in a group of 20 people, which of a school they all lack"
"he would let them explore, so that he could get the toons home"
"he hoped that once his plan worked, the flower would never feel alone"
dandy then put the black crayon he had so he could grab a green one and start drawing some artwork on the page.
while dandy was hopeful, he was still worried that even if the existence of the blank book was true, there was the obvious chance that it wasn't actually magical, and that all dandy did was waste him time via writing a short nonsensical story into it.
..little did he know about the large bus filled with exactly 20 people that were all being driven to Gardenview.
