"What are you doing?"
Five pulls open the fridge door. "Making a sandwich. Do you know how long it's been since I've eaten solid food?"
To her utter mortification, Daniella's stomach chooses this to be the perfect time to let out a grumble. A silence falls over the group, with pure amusement painting Klaus and Vanya's faces.
Surprisingly, Five eyes her, too.
But his gaze lingers, too long for Daniella to not raise a brow.
Whatever Daniella had the misfortune of seeing a few moments prior could be true or false. At least if it were false, she could blame it on being unconscious for years; maybe her mind wanted to play with her a bit more. But if it were true, the Pandora's box that would inevitably have to open makes the girl queasy.
God, she hoped it to be false.
"Well, sue me for being hungry," Daniella grumbles, throwing her arms out, exasperated.
The siblings begrudgingly return their attention to Five. While Daniella is seconds away from sinking into a puddle, Luther abruptly shuts the fridge door in his younger brother's face.
Five stares annoyedly. "You look ridiculous, by the way."
Daniella snorts unattractively and immediately covers her mouth up. The boy evidently catches it, now standing a bit straighter than before, chest slightly puffed out.
"It's been seventeen years, Five. Where have you been?"
"It's been a lot longer than that," Five mutters bitterly, jumping before reopening the fridge and digging out some ingredients.
"I haven't missed that."
Diego asks, "Where'd you go?"
After Daniella's vision slash hallucination, she's practically on the edge of her seat, waiting for Five to either disprove what she saw or...the other option that she really does not want to think about.
But fuck. Watching Five slather rich peanut butter onto bread has to be a form of human torture.
"The future," Five pauses and mildly glances at the sixteen-year-old girl, squinting. "It's shit, by the way."
It makes a part of Daniella uncomfortable, the way it feels like he is seeing right through her, passed her barricades and walls. The knowing glint shone across Five's face, even stronger each time their eyes met, making her wonder dangerously.
Wonder if he knows something.
Then again, Daniella knows it's stupid for her to think that. She knows that even Five had gotten stuck in that odd, apocalyptic place, he couldn't have even known who she was. Well, apart from the day they met, when he time jumped, but she's sure he's had bigger fish to fry since then.
Five continues without anyone needing to ask him. "I should've listened to the old man. Y'know, jumping through space is one thing, jumping through time is a toss of the dice."
Fuck. Okay, so the percentage possibility of her 'vision' being true has officially risen from twenty to eighty.
The boy glances at Klaus. "Nice dress."
"Oh, well, danke!"
"Then how did you get back?" Vanya asks, extremely overwhelmed.
"By projecting my consciousness backward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists in every possible instance in time."
