The school bell rang.

Finally, I was out of this hell.

"Class dismissed make sure you all finish your story essay analysis it's due Monday Morning!" Said Mrs. Williams my English teacher.

As everyone heard the bell they all went rushing out the door. Nobody liked English it was 'Boring' in their words not mine so usually they all didn't care except maybe Jasmine a girl in my class who was smart but she wasn't just smart in this class but probably the entire grade, 4.0 GPA and all. Sometimes I wish I was her, I wanted to be top of my class but that just wasn't for me considering how much I had on my plate.

But I paid attention because I knew that I wouldn't be able to after school, and since I did pay attention, Mrs. Williams probably liked me. Honestly, that was the reality of all my classes.

As I was about to leave Mrs. Williams stopped me "Ava, I wanted to give you this before I forget" she handed me a paper.

and when I looked at the front there was a huge A. I was glad since I worked my ass off on this one.

Mrs. Williams smiled "You deserved that A, Ava be proud of yourself"

I smiled back "I am, thank you"

I left the room with a smile on my face.

As I reached my locker at the end of the corridor I waved to my locker neighbour, Samatha who goes by Sam. She was my friend.

"You look happy," she said studying my face.

"That's cause I got an A on the last English exam," I said pointing to the A on my paper.

"No way, honestly girl you slay especially with everything going on with you," she said. "Like I'm never passing with an A in that class, stuck with Bs"

"Yeah I guess I do" I mumbled transferring my books in and out of my locker.

"Anyway I gotta go and pick up Max from school," I said quickly

"Okay bye!" She called out

"Bye," I said.

I made my way downstairs and left the school building, Passing the soccer practice that was being held and, of course also passing the crowd of girls.

Ugh didn't they have any better things to do?

Whatever

I unlocked my car and started the car and left, on my way to Max's school.

As Max entered the car I asked him "How was school?"

"Great I played with Samuel and we created a club for boys" he replied.

"What kind?" I asked

"No Stacy + girls club"

"hey, that's not nice! Does that mean I can't join?" I asked

"You can join just no the girls in my class"

"Why not?"

"Because this girl named Stacy is so weird, she bullies the other girls and calls them fatties, she also shames them. She also said that Samuel should be her boyfriend but he just thought she was gross" Max said.

What the actual hell

"So why no girls? isn't Stacy the only one being a brat?" I asked

"I guess maybe girls can join but we haven't thought of it yet"

"I see but just so you know I am totally in"

5 minutes later we reached home.

We went inside and I put all my things away in my room.

Since mom was at work I  had to cook food which usually happened. I also worked shifts at a cafe nearby but today was my day off, Fridays and Saturdays were my day off.

The doorbell rang and I gave Max some pasta to eat.

"Here bud eat this" and I headed straight to the door.

I opened it wide once I saw Lexi my younger sister who was coming home from homeschooling,

For Lexi it was different, she had epilepsy causing her to have seizures at random times,  so we had to take special precautions for her health, the doctors told us that she wasn't ready for school until she got everything under control and so that's why my Aunt who used to be a teacher started homeschooling her.

We were all grateful that Aunt would help us, but unfortunately, she couldn't help much since she had to take care of her own family.

it was always like that, they would pity us and then help us for a bit but then they'd get tired and eventually stop. And then just leave to be fed by ourselves like we were their charity work or something. I hated being pitied on all that was shit.

Ever since my dad died four years ago everyone looked down on us and pitied us. I remember those days when I was thirteen my dad was going to my dance recital but he didn't make it instead he was in a car accident leading him into a coma for a week and later we found out he was dead. After that, I quit dancing and so many of our friends and family came to the funeral they all said that they would help us, but after a few months the visits to check up on us stopped, after pitying us and everything they grew tired of caring for other peoples kids and returned to their lives. My mom was depressed and she was a mess. So I had to be there for her I remember comforting her every single day, bringing her tissues, I started taking care of Lex and Max ever since and two years later Mom started drowning herself at work and leaving me to take care of the house, but I never refused because if I did it will all come crumbling down.

After opening the door I told Lex to go eat food with Max and I waved to my Aunt in her car leaving the driveway.

Later I took Lex and Max to Max's soccer practice at four and finished my Calculus homework on the sidelines.

We came home after and I made us all dinner and washed the dishes. I spent most of my time finishing my homework and doing chores and later I put them all to sleep and later I fell on top of my bed and thought,

What if my life was different?
