The bell rang, signaling the end of the school day, but Steven didn't head for the door like the other students.

Instead, he lingered by his locker, watching as Jessie gathered her things a few feet away. She was laughing with her friends, her eyes sparkling with the joy of something one of them had said.

But Steven didn't see the humor. All he saw was the distance between them, the gap that seemed to grow wider every day.Ever since that day by the bleachers when Jessie had slapped him, something had changed inside Steven.

The sting of her hand against his cheek had ignited something dark within him, something he couldn't quite control. He knew he wasn't the same shy, quiet boy he once was. Something darker had taken root, something that urged him to push boundaries, to test limits.

Jessie had unknowingly awakened it, and now, she was the only one who could quench it.He watched as Jessie said goodbye to her friends and started walking down the hallway. This was his moment.

Without a second thought, Steven followed her, his steps quick and purposeful. His mind raced with thoughts, with plans he hadn't fully formed, but that didn't stop him. All he knew was that he had to see her, had to confront her.Jessie was halfway down the corridor when she sensed someone behind her. She turned, surprised to see Steven standing there, his eyes dark and unreadable.

"Steven?" she said, her voice a mix of confusion and irritation. "What are you doing?"He didn't answer right away. Instead, he closed the distance between them in two quick strides, his gaze locked on hers.

"We need to talk," he said, his voice low, almost a growl.Jessie frowned, her earlier lighthearted mood evaporating. "About what?""About us," Steven replied, his tone leaving no room for argument.Jessie shook her head, her annoyance growing.

"There is no 'us,' Steven. I don't know what you're talking about."Steven's jaw tightened, and he took another step closer, invading her personal space. "Don't lie to me, Jessie," he said, his voice edged with a dangerous calm. "I know you felt something that day. You can't just walk away from it.

"Jessie’s heart pounded in her chest, but she refused to let him see her fear. "You're delusional," she snapped, turning to walk away. "I'm not interested in whatever game you're playing."But Steven was faster. He grabbed her wrist, yanking her back to face him. His grip was firm, almost bruising, but Jessie refused to show any pain. Instead, she glared at him, her eyes flashing with anger.

"Let go of me, Steven," she demanded, her voice cold.Steven smirked, a dark, unsettling smile that sent chills down her spine. "Make me," he challenged, his eyes daring her to try.Jessie yanked her hand free, glaring at him with a mix of anger and disgust.

"You’re sick," she spat. "You think you can scare me into whatever twisted fantasy you have, but you’re wrong."Steven's smile faded, replaced by a look of dark determination. "This isn’t a fantasy, Jessie," he said, his voice hard.

"This is real. And you’re going to see that, one way or another."Jessie took a step back, suddenly feeling the weight of his words. There was something different about Steven now, something that hadn’t been there before. He was no longer the shy, awkward boy she had once known.

He was something else entirely, something darker and more dangerous. But Jessie refused to back down. She squared her shoulders, meeting his gaze with a defiant glare. "Stay away from me, Steven," she said, her voice steady despite the fear curling in her stomach. "I don’t want anything to do with you."Steven’s expression hardened, his eyes narrowing.

"You don’t have a choice, Jessie," he said, his voice low and threatening. "You’re mine, whether you like it or not."Jessie’s heart raced, but she didn’t show any fear. "I’m not yours," she hissed. "I’ll never be yours."Steven’s hand shot out, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her close.

"We’ll see about that," he whispered, his breath hot against her ear.Jessie struggled against his grip, her mind racing with fear and anger. "Let go of me!" she demanded, her voice rising. But Steven didn’t let go. Instead, he tightened his grip, his eyes boring into hers. "I told you, Jessie," he said, his voice soft but deadly.

"You don’t have a choice. "For a moment, they stood there, locked in a silent battle of wills. Jessie’s heart pounded in her chest, her mind racing with thoughts of escape. But before she could act, Steven suddenly released her, stepping back with a dark smirk."Go ahead, run," he said, his voice cold. "But you can’t run forever, Jessie. I’ll be waiting.

"Jessie stared at him, her breath coming in short, quick gasps. She wanted to say something, to fight back, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, she turned on her heel and ran, her footsteps echoing down the empty hallway. As she fled, Steven watched her go, his expression unreadable. He knew she was scared, knew she was trying to put as much distance between them as possible.

But it didn’t matter. He had gotten under her skin, and now, he would wait for the right moment to strike again.Because this was far from over.

This was just the beginning.
