4: Darken War

Prologue: Thrain Blackwood

I sat upon my throne, receiving audiences from those around my great kingdom of Dourhold. Our great nation lying under a sturdy mountain within our mountain-filled kingdom, the castle peaking out of the surface. Living underground does not bother us, for we are the great dwarves of the mountains.

"Our mine has run dry of iron my lord." A dwarf with golden blond hair and beard spoke. "We need a new location to start mining."

"Correct me if I am wrong," I spoke to Theo, my advisor, a greying dwarf with a large bald spot on the top of his head. "Wasn't there recently a deposit of iron discovered in the eastern passage?"

"Indeed there was my lord," Theo answered. 

"Good." I looked back to the man before me. "Start your mining there, if there are any issues please do not hesitate to reach out to us."

The man bowed. "Thank you my lord." he turned to leave. 

Next was the man known as the eyes of the kingdom, Ignus but was nothing more then someone with connections that spread throughout all kingdoms. "My lord." he bowed. "We have word from the kingdom of Ignisfatia."

"What of the dragons?" I asked, unconcerned. 

"King Draus Ignisfatia has fallen." He answered. i sat up straighter in my throne. "He lost in a battle with the queen of Drakaria. it is said that she in conquering all the surrounding kingdoms and claiming the thrones for herself. She has already claimed the fairy realm and the elven kingdom of El'gorin, the dragon kingdom is the newest to her list."

"How would a mere human beat the fairies, elves and the dragons?" i did not feel like these rumors were true.

"She is said to not be a human at all my lord." Ignus warned. "It is said that she is a eight foot tall monster who is part human, part elf, and part dragon. she is said to be able to use powers beyond all imagination and to be so hideous that she scares all that come near."

"How would a mix species become queen of the human nation?" i crossed my arms. 

"That's just it." Ignus looked truly worried. "She was born human, but was said to have died and returned as this demon."

"She came back from the dead?" i stood. "Do you think we are on her list of those she wishes to conquer?" 

"I wouldn't put it past a monster such as her." He bowed to me.

Theo leaned into whisper in my ear. "It would be best to prepare a defensive army just incase." 

i nodded in agreement. "See that it is done."

"As you wish." Theo bowed and left the room along with Ignus. 

i was now alone in the throne room. i made my way out of the room, up to the top tower of the castle, the only spot that could view the outside world. 

as i looked on into the mountainous view i worried about what would happen if this so called monster queen were to set sights on my own kingdom. perhaps i will write a letter to negotiate piece, i need to protect my people in any way possible.
