As AbdulJalal returned home, a sense of emptiness and unwelcoming engulfed him. He couldn’t help but regret everything he had done to Zaytun throughout the day. As he walked towards the bedroom, he could sense her excitement still lingering in the air. Memories of his wife’s welcoming gestures flooded his mind. He remembered her beautiful face smiling at him, asking him about his day, and eagerly awaiting his response. He recalled the gentle way she had taken his hand, kissed his cheeks, and offered to prepare a delicious dinner. These memories brought tears to his eyes, and he closed them. He realized that in the past two months, he had done nothing but cry when returning home. Now, he felt the same way she had felt for months. The only difference was that he knew he was loved by Zaytun.
With a gentle touch, he picked up the pillow and pulled it close to his body. Even after days of her not sleeping on it, the pillow still retained her scent. He took the chance to sleep while tightly hugging the pillow against his chest. The warmth and comfort it brought was reminiscent of the warmth and comfort she gave him, and he couldn’t imagine sleeping without it.
Despite Lubna’s numerous attempts to reach out to him, AbdulJalal had been ignoring her and had even gone as far as blocking her number. He couldn’t focus on anything else besides Zaytun and their relationship. He was surprised at how much he had come to rely on her presence and how much he missed her now that she was gone. He had never thought he would be in this situation, where his emotions would get the better of him, and he couldn’t suppress his feelings for her. Despite knowing that she would never reply, he still sent her messages, pouring out his heart and soul in the hopes that she was reading them and knew how much he loved her.
So, over the past week, AbdulJalal had sought solace in a secluded house, where he lived alone. He had been using this time to reflect on his thoughts and clear his mind, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The serene surroundings and fresh air provided a much-needed escape from the stress and chaos of his daily routine.
He had to face the harsh reality that he had cheated on Zaytun in the past. When she confronted him about it, he couldn’t deny the truth anymore. However, he felt a mix of emotions when she revealed that she had known about it from the beginning. It was a combination of guilt and anger that made him so depressed.
He struggled to contain his emotions. He bit his lips so hard in an attempt to distract himself from the guilt that was creeping up on him.
He was standing at the edge of the river, staring blankly at the water. It had been a good two weeks since he started staying at his secluded house, but the events of the past few days still lingered in his mind. The day after Zaytun had asked for a divorce during their talk, he had felt lost and unsure of how to react. The thought of separating from his wife was eating him from the inside, and his heart felt tight – a feeling he had never experienced before.
Despite his hope that Zaytun would eventually forgive him, he couldn’t help but feel defeated. He knew his wife wouldn’t forgive him easily, and the possibility of losing her forever was terrifying. On the other hand, AbdulJalal wanted to keep the marriage going and find a way to reconcile with her. But he also knew that it would be unfair to his wife if he forced her to stay in a relationship that he no longer wanted.
Finally, Alhaji Sani posed a significant obstacle to the situation. AbdulJalal was aware that his father would staunchly oppose the divorce, considering the circumstances. The reason for this lay in the fact that Alhaji Sani had not yet achieved the goal he had previously spoken about. Furthermore, there was the risk that he could lose his entire inheritance, and even worse, his position as the CEO of Sani's conglomerate, given that he had already signed the legal documents. This added a great deal of complexity and uncertainty to the situation, making it all the more challenging to navigate, but he also knew that he had to prioritize his relationship with Zaytun.
