「 ✦ Chapter 18 ✦ 」
ONE, TWO, THREE, I've been getting so many notifications all day, but I'd been ignoring them since I was busy studying.
Jaylen, who was sitting next to me and he seriously thinks I haven't noticed him peeking over my shoulder whenever my phone lights up to tell me someone sent me a message. "Who is messaging you so much?"
"I don't know." I shrug and look at him. "You can check or whatevs, I'm busy." Half truth, half lie, I was too lazy to pick up my phone and check the messages.
"Don't tell me I snooped through your phone when you're the one who said I could." He said as he grabbed my thumb and did the thumb recognition scan to get past the lock screen.
I furrowed my brows, shook my head and laughed. "How did you figure out to do that?" My phone's thumb recognition is on the 'on' button and not on the bottom on the screen as normal so I was a bit shocked that he knew how to do that.
He shrugged and I got suspicious, but didn't question or push it any further. Jaylen tapped on the unknown number that'd been sending messages the entire day.
"What were they sending?" I asked as I put my laptop down and leaned over to his side, getting a clear view of my phone.
His brows were furrowed and I was confused till I looked at the phone.
Hundreds of pictures taken of all of the group from afar were displayed in a string of messages, one after the other.
In one of the photos, it was a selfie of all of us, but in Polaroid version. I hastily got up and dashed to my room, searching through the Polaroids on my wall. A very clear gaping hole in the wall of different photos indicated someone had come into my room and taken it.
Where is the humanity?
Why is our dorm room always so easy for strangers to break into, how many times has it been now? I'm not surprised to be honest, but I never thought that someone would stage a break and enter, then take a photo that is probably worthless to them.
At this point, I'm not even sure if Mr.Weldon had anything to do with it.
But one thing I know, is that our security sucks.

Me and Jaylen had decided to go out into the city and get locks instead of scanners.
Oh how I will miss the hotel feeling with the key cards and scanners.
Before we go to a locksmith, we need to check the cameras, I have a hunch nobody has been checking any cameras on our devices because of laziness.
Jaylen was texting on his phone, leaving me feeling a sense of boredom.
My boredom ran out as soon as I saw an old friend of mine, Livia Bellani.
She isn't very good at English since Spanish is her first language so I learnt Spanish at eight to converse with her.
"Hey Addie!" She spoke perfect English and I gasped. "No way! Omg you know English now?" The look on my face was probably one of shock, I am so proud of her.
She smiled and nodded. "Yea, I had a friend help me learn. So sorry to cut this short but I am in a rush and need to go, cya!" She dismisses me and runs off.
"Jaylennnn." I complained and trudged back over to him as I dragged my feet and sigh dramatically. "Hurry up."
"There are no camera signals at all." I stopped being silly at that and raised an eyebrow, "What? Don't lie to me." I told him as I tried to look at his screen.
He started walking towards one of the hidden cameras in a plant, and he moved the specific plant we'd marked out of the way.
The camera had been smashed.
"This is so annoying, that specific camera was like $600." I added a twinge of remorse in my voice. To be honest, lots of the things we ordered specifically for this entire plan came broken.
Probably because they're from Wish.. (Jokes)

Jaylen and I got sick of finding a broken camera after broken camera everywhere we turned, even the school security cameras were smashed.
Eventually, we decided to give up and go watch a movie. The cinema's close at around 2am and currently it's 11pm, and Jaylen is buying our popcorn.
"Salted or butter?" He asked as he picked out the red and white cardboard bowl from the stack, "both." I replied quickly and he laughed.
The movies were always my comfort spot, me and El come here whenever exams are over, since we normally have exams at the same time as each other. Compared to all four of us in our friend group, me and Eléria have the closest dates out of all the important end-of-semester exams and assessments.
"So when are the others getting here?" I asked as he handed me my popcorn, and then took a look at his watch to see how much time we have before the movie we chose; Never Let Go.
We both argued a bit about the genre of the movie, I wanted comedy and he wanted horror, a friendly game of Pea Knuckle went on and you can guess who won. "Others?" He turned around and asked.
"Yeah, aren't the others coming with us?" I try and clear up the weird tension. "I called, everyone is busy so it's just us, Whitlock," he says coldly, in a tone where he already expected me to know it was gonna be just us. "Plus, do you know how expensive it would've been? I may have loads of money but no way are we wasting it all, don't be an oblivious fucking idiot."
I gasp.
"The profanity is crazy." I snatch his drink after he'd filled it up, and drank it myself. "Get your own drink!" I snap and walk away.
Then it hit me, If I left to go sit in the theatre right now, the movie might start and I'd get scared, so I quickly scurried back to Jaylen, giving him a wide smile. "Hi again!" I squeaked and tried to look innocent.
"What? Weren't you just walking away?" He asked as he had all his snacks in one arm, drink in hand. "Whatever, Jay. It doesn't matter." He smirked, he knew I would come running back.
We walked into the theatre, and since it was a private one for the crazy rich, there were barely any people in there, a few tables along the sides with booths and the classic, red, reclining seats in the middle.
We sat on the side booths, the AC was on since it was pretty hot outside, and we sat near each other, probably to share body heat.
The ads had finished, and the start credits had rolled in.
Over the span of a few minutes, the audio became eery, me and Jaylen glanced at each other, till the screen looked as if it was melting.
Then the entire theatre became pitch black, the sounds of screams heard in the near distance.
