The warmth of bodies penetrating up against each other, floats in the air causing a hot flush to come over me. Gi and I walked into the club, as Lily and Gigi Smith, two personalities my older brother came up with when making our fake ID's. This was our way of leaving our true selves behind, even if it was just for one night.
Feeding off of each others energy, it was so calming knowing that everyone was just in their own little worlds, without a care in the world. It made me feel more comfortable and eager to blend in with the jumping and dancing bodies, saturated in sweat and carelessness on the dance-floor. I grabbed Gi's hand and dragged her straight to the bar.
"Lei you know if you have more than two drinks, you will be straight in the cab home" Giovanna said to me. I started laughing and nudged her arm.
"Come on, Gi that is such a lie" I reply, giggling in embarrassment knowing I am the biggest light-weight.
"Please, we both know you're the liability on any night out" she said, laughing and sweeping her golden hair behind her left ear.
"Ok fine, I get it. At least I can be someone's entertainment" I reply.
"Can we please get two double shot vodka soda's with a squeeze of lime" Gi orders to the handsome brunette and fair-skinned bartender.
"I'll triple it for you girls" he replies, with a long crooked smile and winks and Giovanna. Nervous, yet flattered she starts to blush and look down with a smile.
"It would be rude if I said no" she replies. He pours our drinks, while pinching his index and thumb together around the lime, liquidating the insides of it into our drinks.
"Here you go ladies" he replies, not being able to take his eyes off of Giovanna, who is pulling out her purse.
"Put it away" he says, flashing us a bright grin.
"Triple shot, and free? What did I do to deserve this treatment" she replies to him. I giggle and know that the night might not end up with Gi and I in the same bed tonight.
"Only if you promise to dance with me later" he says.
"Hmm I think I can do that" she giggles, not knowing what to do with herself. She likes him! I have to work my magic.
I look at the both of them in awe, knowing this guy is exactly her type. I motion to the bartender, staring at Gi up and down yet trying to not look like a creep, to get her number. He catches my gaze and understand what I am trying to say without her noticing. He laughs, perhaps a bit nervously.
"Can I get your number?" He asks. I am so thrilled. My sign language worked.
"Find me on the dance-floor when you finish. I'll assess your moves first".
"Done" he says giving her hand a kiss, like the Queen that she is.
She starts squealing out of excitement, jumping up and down.
"Lei I am in love. Help" she says, stressing out. I pull her into a hug, excited for her. I haven't seen her this excited over a boy in a long time. Ever since her 7 year relationship with her ex didn't work out, she has had a few flings but has never seen them as anything more.
"Get it girl, he is perfect for you" I reply, showing her that I am behind her the whole way. She deserves only the best and I'm going to make sure of that. I have always been so protective over her, especially after seeing so many men walk all over her kindness.
"We need to find someone for you" she replies, looking around at the various men in the club.
"No, Gi not for a while" I reply, instantly terrified of the idea with me intimate with a man. Any man.
"Lei, it wont be like this forever. And it kills me to know how mistreated you were by Amir. He was your first relationship, and I don't want you to be traumatised from it thinking that is all that is out there" she replies. I instantly shut it down, focusing on having a fun night.
"Lets go dance" I reply, smiling and changing the subject. She looks at me with worry, yet understands that It is something I don't like to talk about.
"Lets go!" She replies, dragging me by my arm to the dance floor.
