I woke up suddenly with the frightening 'ding!' of my alarm clock. I reached over and pressed the button on top to make it stop. It was finally 6:30am and time to get out of my warm, soft bed and head somewhere I hated and loved at the same time; school. I hated school for only two reasons: I got bullied all the time by Maggie along with her mean squad and I was known as the weird girl. But I loved school at the same time because of my best friend, Ruby Stilton, and because I got to learn something new everyday which was one of my favourite things. And when I'd get home from school I'd usually do my homework with the murder mystery channel on and try to solve old murders from the 1960's. That was my favourite thing to do; Solve crimes. It was really fun to me even though no one else I knew thought so.
I hadn't realized I'd dozed off again when I heard another 'ding!' from my clock. I reached over and pressed the top button again. Then, I swung myself out of my warm blankets and into my favourite pink slippers Ruby bought for me. I got up and walked out of my bedroom door to the bathroom on the opposite side of the hall near my baby brother's bedroom. For once my parents had gotten him to stop crying and we'd all had our first good nights sleep in a few days.
I took a quick shower, got dressed in my favourite blue jeans and an oversized midnight blue Prince Edward Island t-shirt. I brushed my teeth, combed the knots out my hair and put it in a classic ponytail. I got my reading glasses from the cabinet and stuffed them into my lavender coloured backpack along with the new book I bought. I stuffed a couple of other stationary supplies in there and headed downstairs for breakfast.
I walked in on my mother cooking her famous strawberry chocolate pancakes. I know it probably sounds gross but it's my favourite food ever.
"Good morning, mom", I said feeling cheery. I looked around. "Where's dad?".
"Good morning, Lacy", she gave a weak smile. "He's reading in the library upstairs, making drawings and such on the chalk board. As usual". She chuckled.
I barely talked to my parents these days. They were usually just busy with my brother all the time. It was a bit annoying but I had to live with it.
I walked past her and grabbed two hot pancakes from the plate, put some syrup on them and ate them within three minutes. Probably my new record if I had to guess. I washed my plate quietly. When suddenly I turned and saw my cat; Apollo, sleeping on top of the fridge. And wondered; there has got to something wrong with that cat. I quickly filled up his food bowl and patted his head.
I finally remembered to check my watch after all this time; Oh shoot! I was going to be late so I sprinted down the hallway to the door. I put on my favourite purple converse sneakers with embroidered pink and yellow flowers.
"Bye, mom! Love you!".
"Bye, Sweetie".
I opened the door about to run outside when my mom suddenly said;"Oh! You forgot your keys again!", she yelled as she tossed them to me.
I caught them with one hand. "Thanks!". I ran out the door, locked it behind me and stuffed the keys into my pocket.
I ran to the small gap between the neighbour's house and mine and pulled out my teal coloured bike with a woven basket in front. I put my backpack in the basket and tested my bikes bell.
Ding!
"Perfect", I whispered to myself.
Then I rode off in the direction of Easterbury High School.
