The morning sun filtered through the curtains as a 19 year old girl hurried to get ready for another day at university.
"Beta, come have your breakfast before you go," Meera called out, her voice warm and comforting.
Rhea quickly slung her bag over her shoulder and made her way downstairs. She greeted her parents, giving her mother a quick hug and nodding respectfully to her father. Devraj's eyes met hers briefly, a silent acknowledgment that spoke volumes. His expectations were unspoken, but Rhea knew them well.
As she ate, there was a fleeting moment of calm, a brief pause in the relentless pace of her life. Despite the undercurrents of tension in her family, this was a rare instance where she felt almost like any other 19 year-old girl.
The moment Rhea entered the university, her eyes were searching for one person.
And then she saw him.
Kabir stood under a large oak tree, casually leaning against the trunk with his hands in his pockets. He wore a plain white t-shirt and jeans, nothing extraordinary, but somehow he made even the simplest outfit look like it was made for him. His hair was slightly tousled, as if he had just run his fingers through it, and his sharp features softened as he scanned the crowd, seemingly waiting for someone.
Rhea's heart fluttered at the sight of him. She couldn't help the smile that spread across her face, her feet moving almost on their own as she started running towards him. She dodged a few of her classmates, not even bothering to stop and chat as she usually did. Nothing could delay this moment.
"Kabir!" she called out, her voice brimming with joy.
Kabir looked up, his eyes locking onto hers instantly. His expression transformed—what was once casual indifference became a radiant smile that was just for her. Before he could say anything, Rhea launched herself into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck in a tight hug.
Kabir caught her effortlessly, holding her close as if this was the most natural thing in the world. "Rhea," he murmured, his voice a mix of amusement and affection."You will break your bones some day if you will keep launching yourself as rocket."
