Sunoo - blinded feelings

"There, there, let it all out." 

"I don't understand why did he cheat on me! I did nothing wrong to him!" I cried while sunoo is trying to calm me down by caressing my shaky shoulder. He heaved a heavy sigh as his heart break into pieces watching his bestfriend crying over some jerk again. 

"I never understand what you see in that guy anyways, he was a no good from the beginning." Sunoo said in a disliking tone. He took some tissues when he noticed the overflowing tears i had on my cheeks, also wiping the snot that came down near my upper lips. 

"I really thought that he was a good guy." 

"He used you for school stuffs and you called that good? You must be blind or something." He sarcastically said, trying to lift up the mood too. I pouted and punch him lightly on his side. 

"Ouch that hurts." He feighned pain but with a smile on his face. 

"But i guess you're right, he was only sweet on the mouth." 

"There you go! Just forget about him, there's lots of guys who'd die to date you."

"I don't believe that." 

Sunoo rolled his eyes at my stuborness, shaking his head at my retort. 

"Wanna bet? If someone confesses to you by the end of the semester, you owe me a bucket of mint chocolate ice cream." Sunoo smiled cheekily at his own idea while popping some bubblegum. My eyes widened a bit hearing that but soon replaced by a confused expression

"Why are you making a bet where you obviously gonna lose?" 

"Oh don't you worry, i'm not gonna lose." He pinched my cheek before he got up along with taking his bag and leaving me speechless. I shook my head unbelieveably, but a mysterious smile crept up on my face as i trace back my cheek. 

"Hey, wait up!" Soon i came back to reality and gather my things before running to catch up with Sunoo who was walking more further. 

As we walk to our class, I was already long gone about the break up and now me and Sunoo were just minding our own business talking about what to do for the weekend since we both promised to hang out on Saturday. Just then, someone grabbed my wrist making me turn around, almost losing balance in the process. 

"We need to talk." It was Alvin, my ex. Seeing his face now makes me sick and the fact that he's touching me again makes it even worse. I shot a dislike look to him as i brushed his hand off harshly. 

"What's there to talk about?"

"You have to give me another chance, i haven't even explain myself." I burst out laughing and it made him very confused. 

"You think this is funny?" He seemed to be so offended by the fact that i seem okay now. Sunoo was behind me, ready to help if something went bad all of a sudden. I crossed my arms and took a step closer to Alvin. 

"I don't give second chances, especially to a jerk like you." I turned around, ready to leave him. But it seems that he did not like the attitude that i gave him, he grabbed a handful of my hair and pulled it making me shrieked out of pain. 

Seeing that, Sunoo couldn't just stand back. He quickly pushed Alvin away and threw a punch across his face. Everyone that was watching gasped in shock finding Alvin dropped to the floor with a bruised cheek, a crowd was starting to form. Sunoo pulled me closer to him by the waist as a sign of protection.

"That's what you get when you lay your hands on what's mine." My eyes widened instantly. Sunoo led me away from the crowd with a furious expression on his face. But as soon as we were alone again, his expression softens.

"Are you okay?" He held both of my shoulders gently with a worried face while i was still stunned by his action a while ago. 

"You must be startled." Sunoo brushed his hand on my head, patting it softly. Little did he know that his sudden sweet actions is affecting me right now. 

"I'm okay, don't worry." I whispered as i hung my head down not wanting to let him now how flustered i am now. Sunoo smiled before giving me a last pat. 

"Come on, i'll treat you to some ice cream after class." He wrapped his arm around my neck as he tried to cheer me up, i smiled at his working effort and continue the day with him. I tried to not think about what he said too much, but the fact that he suddenly says that i'm his was unforgetable, also it wasn't like him at all.

"What does he meant by 'what's mine'?" 

"He was just trying to help me right?" 

"Maybe i'm thinking about it too much."

"But i can't let it out of my head!"

"Hey, you okay?" Sunoo's voice broke my bubble of thoughts, making me go back to reality. He came back with two ice cream packages in his hand, one chocolate flavoured and the other was mint-chocolate flavoured. He handed me the chocolate one as he sat down next to me on the bench.

"Yeah, i'm okay. Thanks..." 

We both just sat there in silence, enjoying the ice cream while watching the sun starts drowning, making a beautiful hue in the sky among the clouds. 

"I-"

"Hey-"

"Ah, you go first."

"No, you first."

I stopped for a moment to arrange the question that i'm about to ask. "It's about a while ago, when we had a little fight with Alvin."

I looked at him for a moment to see if he's paying attention, and his eyes were already on mine, making me even more nervous to continue. 

"What do you mean by-"

"By calling you mine?" Sunoo guessed as if he could read my mind. I widened my eyes when he guessed correctly, making Sunoo let out a little chuckle. 

"I guess you caught me red handed." Sunoo finishes his ice cream, throwing the ice cream stick to the trash bin next to the bench we were sitting before he focuses back on me. "I like you."

The world seem to have stopped spinning for a moment, my lung stopped knowing how to breath and i couldn't care less about the ice cream turning into a melting mess. 

"But.. we've been bestfriends for a while now."

"So? Falling for your own bestfriend isn't a crime, if it is then i'd go to jail for you." 

My tongue freezes, not knowing what to respond to his unexpected confession.

"Look, i know this is all of a sudden, considering that you just broke up, but i'm not trying to force you to like me back or give me an answer right this instant. Take your time okay?" 

"You're probably wondering how did i like you huh?" I nodded.

"At first i don't have any interest on you, but as time goes by i started to feel something weird like how my heart beats faster when i'm around you, or when i got upset everytime you got into a relationship. I denied my feelings at first, thinking that it was just how i really love you as a bestfriend and that i was worried for you, i guess i could say i blinded my own feelings by the fact that we're bestfriends. But in reality, i did fell for my bestfriend, you."

Sunoo looked deeply into my eyes, i could feel his gaze warm in the inside of my heart as i began to wonder. 

Come to think of it, i realized that Sunoo was the only guy that had treated me right. He was always there for me in my ups and downs, he knows how to make me smile, he knows how to comfort me in my bad days. Why did i just realize this now? Maybe i could say that my own feelings was also blinded by the fact that we're bestfriends. 

Finally a smile crept up to my cheeks, maybe it's time to open the blindfold to my own feelings.
