Chapter Ten

It was a very nippy November morning when I found myself dumbfounded at the sight of yet another rule.

Hanging in the rules' walls, that Professor Umbridge has made Filch, Hogwarts' caretaker, fill up with frameworks and frameworks of different rules, there was a new one.

A few rows and columns up, you could now read: Proclamation, Educational Decree n°30 - All Weasley's products will be banned immediately.

No fun.

I find myself reading the rule number twenty-nine: Extracurricular activities are subject to review by the High Inquisitor.

So that is what Umbridge now goes by. High Inquisitor, because she cannot name herself Headmistress, that is for sure. For now, Dumbledore is still around, even if we students do not see him quite as often.

Then, I focus on the particularly interesting one, number twenty-six: Boys and girls are not permitted to be within six inches of each other.

That is quite fitting.

Nowadays mostly anything makes me think of him, even on a random Thursday.

But, seriously, who, on their right minds, would forbid children to be away from each other just because they are the opposite sex? That is insane, just like Umbridge. She might be losing her mind like me.

I fidget with my robe's button as I look up, making my neck hurt. I am alone here, hoping I do not see any Professors while I am on a free period.

Professors are being odd lately, that is a way to put it. They are all being jumpy and grumpy, which makes all students feel off too. This is all Umbridge's fault, she has been checking every single professor's classes, how they teach and why they teach that way.

Everything is wrong in her eyes., and she does not bother to tell them off in private, instead, she does in front of any class. I would like to know Dumbledore's opinion on this.

Snapping me out of my thoughts, I hear someone behind me clearing their throat, I jump.

I look over my shoulder to see a certain white-blond boy, "Scared?" He is standing right behind me, I would move backwards and inch and my back would meet his chest.

"I wasn't expecting anyone," I shake my head, I divert my eyes from him to the wall. He also was not looking at me, but the frames in front of us.

"Boys and girls are not permitted to be within six inches of each other," Malfoy reads out loud mindlessly, "Really witty, isn't it?"

I nod, reassuring, "Relatable."

As he hums, he moves closer, his chest now pressing to my back. He moves to my ear, "Is this within six inches?" He whispers, making my hairs stand up when his hand rests on my waist.

I relax to his touch, muttering, "I'm sure it is.."

I feel him smirking, even though I cannot see him. Something came over me when I suddenly turned around, snaking my hand behind his neck and connecting our lips together. I could not care enough to think about where we were, in the middle of a corridor.

He kisses me back in an instant, as if he was already waiting for me. We kiss for some time, feeling like it was not enough when we pulled apart because of some fainting voices.

Malfoy smiles at me, his tongue peaking out on the corner of his mouth, then pulls from my hand as he rushes backwards to a door.

He pushes us both inside, I look around to see myself in a small, empty room, some cleaning utensils in the shelves. I do not have much time to think about the place when Malfoy lifts me up and sits me on a flat surface, kissing me again.
