The sun filtered through the morning haze as Isha and Akshat began their day, eager to soak in everything Pune had to offer. The city seemed to welcome them with open arms, its streets buzzing with life and color. They wandered through the narrow lanes of the old city, marveling at the intricate architecture of the temples and the vibrancy of the bustling markets. Each stop on their journey was filled with moments that Akshat was quick to capture on his camera. He had always believed in the magic of preserving memories, and today, he was determined to capture the joy that radiated from Isha.
At Shaniwar Wada, they stood in awe of the historical grandeur, while at Saras Baug, they reveled in the calmness that the lush greenery provided. “This place is beautiful,” Isha said, her voice soft as she took in the serenity of the garden. Akshat smiled, clicking a candid shot of her as she admired the surroundings. “Not as beautiful as your smile right now,” he teased, lowering the camera to meet her gaze. Isha chuckled, a light blush creeping up her cheeks. The day felt perfect, a rare escape from the burdens they both carried in their personal lives.
As the afternoon gave way to the golden hues of sunset, they found themselves at a cozy café overlooking the city. It was here, amidst the chatter of other patrons and the clinking of cups, that Isha’s phone buzzed on the table. The casual atmosphere was instantly shattered as she glanced at the screen. Her breath hitched in her throat—Shantanu. The name blinked on her phone as if mocking the years of silence between them. The world around her seemed to fade, leaving only the sound of her own heartbeat pounding in her ears.
Panic gripped her, and her hand, which had been so steady all day, trembled as she reached for the phone. Her mind raced, memories of Shantanu flooding back with an intensity that she wasn’t prepared for. She hadn’t spoken to him in years—hadn’t even seen his name on her screen since they parted ways. What could he possibly want now? The very thought of hearing his voice again, after everything that had happened, sent a wave of anxiety crashing over her.
Akshat noticed the change in her almost immediately. The lively spark in her eyes had dimmed, replaced by a look of fear and confusion. He leaned closer, concern etched across his face. “Isha… what’s wrong?” he asked softly, his voice gentle but laced with worry. He followed her gaze to the phone and saw the name that had caused her distress. “Is that... Shantanu?”
Isha nodded, unable to form words. The emotions she had buried deep inside were threatening to spill over, and she didn’t know how to handle them. “I… I can’t… I don’t know what to do, Akshat,” she whispered, her voice trembling.
Akshat reached out, covering her hand with his, offering a steadying presence. “It’s okay,” he said, his tone soothing.
“I think you should pickup the call . He's your husband, kuch emergency hogi tabhi itne saal baad call Kiya h nah . You’re not alone in this, Isha. I’m here with you.”Isha : But why'd I pickup the call ! This man (angry ) Yeh insaan smjhta kya h khudko jab marzi Hui tb call kr diya aur itne saal tk ek call nhi Kiya ! Mein nhi uthaungi iska call...
Akshat : It's totally upto you but you should consider to him talking !
Isha : Dekh Akshat, mujhe uss aadmi ke baare mein koi baat (tears now) ... Nhi karni h aur aage se yaad rkhna ki tu mere saamne bhool ke bhi uss insaan ka naam na le. Warna I'm not gonna talk with you anymore
Akshat frowned: Accha Isha , I'm sorry bss aage se aap joh bolegi wahi krunga!
She smiled , nodding "Thankyou Akshat"!
Akshat returned her smile, holding her hand gently. “You don’t have to thank me, Isha. I’m just glad I can be here for you.”
And with that, they allowed the day to continue, trying to reclaim the peace and happiness they had found earlier. But somewhere in the back of Isha’s mind, the memory of Shantanu lingered, a reminder that some chapters, no matter how deeply buried, are never truly closed.
