Alessia's pov-It had been a couple weeks since I found out about my mum, she reacted surprisingly well to the surgery, and it was deemed, with a long road of physiotherapy and recovery, she would make it. Obviously that news was nothing but a blessing, but I still took the break from football.
The doctors prescribed me some iron tablets, and encouraged me to take care of my body, which I did listen too. The girls really helped me through it all, even after I found out my mum would eventually be herself again.
Kyra, Leah, Wally and Steph stayed with me for 10 days, to make sure I was okay and that I was eating. They really took care of me.
Tomorrow, I'm back at football for the first time and for some reason I'm so nervous, I have no idea how people will treat me when I'm back. Each and every one of them, either got me a gift, a card or sent me a kind message. I was really grateful but I felt very dependent on everyone and I hate feeling that way.
(The next day)
I wake up to the sound of my alarm, it makes my heart sink as I realise I'm back in routine. I get up, somewhat excited and nervous, I brush my teeth and get ready for training.
Breakfast will be weetabix, you can't go wrong, I ate those in quite a rush and immediately left for Sobha reality. It took 20 minutes to get there, I could see that Leah had just arrived, so I decided to walk in with her. "Hi Leah." I nervously whispered. "Hiya less, you ready?" She replied. In no way am I ready, but i just say " I guess so."
She smiles, with a look of pride in her eyes she notes "everyone is so excited to have you back, we are proud of you."
I smile back, and we carry on walking. After speaking to Leah, my nerves seem to have settled. We get to the door, put in our codes and walk too the changing room. The nerves quickly come back and my heart is fluttering, I can hear the girls in the changing room as we approach. Leah walks in first, I follow. Everyone greets me with such kind hugs, relaying their thoughts and pride to me. In that moment,I felt so loved.
I was really grateful for each and every one of them, so I got them all gifts, to which they scolded me for as I'd "do the same for them."
After we were all dressed for training, jonas came and pulled me aside, asking if I was 100% ready, I now felt I was. He expressed that if I needed a break, that I take it. I thanked him for his understanding and we then went to train.
I guess this has taught me, that family is not those you share DNA with, they are those who pick you up when you fall, and leave you higher than you started.
