As the Thanksgiving celebration continued, Rose found herself lost in a memory that brought a smile to her face. It was the memory of the day she and Leo welcomed their first child, Lilly, into the world. Surrounded by family, Rose drifted into a flashback, reliving the emotions of that unforgettable day.

The Early Morning

It was a crisp autumn morning in 2015, and the world outside was still dark when Rose felt the first contractions. She had woken up Leo, gently nudging him awake. "Leo... I think it's time," she whispered, her voice filled with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation.

Leo had blinked awake, instantly alert. "Are you sure?" he asked, already knowing the answer from the look in her eyes.

Rose nodded, feeling a surge of love and excitement. "Yes, I'm sure. Our little girl is ready to meet us."

The Drive to the Hospital

The drive to the hospital was quiet and peaceful, the early morning streets nearly deserted. Leo had one hand on the steering wheel and the other gently holding Rose's. They exchanged few words, letting the anticipation build as they drew closer to the moment they had been waiting for.

"I can't believe we're about to meet her," Rose had said softly, looking out the window at the first hints of dawn.

Leo had squeezed her hand. "We're going to be amazing parents, Rose. She's going to be so loved."

At the Hospital

When they arrived at the hospital, everything seemed to move in a blur. Rose remembered the nurses guiding them to a room, the rush of preparation, and the flurry of activity that surrounded them. Despite the chaos, there was a sense of calm between her and Leo, a shared understanding that they were on the brink of something life-changing.

Leo had been by her side the entire time, offering comfort and support as Rose worked through the labor. The pain was intense, but Rose remained focused, determined to meet her daughter.

"You're doing so well, Rose," Leo had whispered, brushing a kiss against her forehead. "I'm so proud of you."

Lilly's Arrival

Finally, after what felt like both a lifetime and a fleeting moment, Lilly was born. The sound of her first cries filled the room, and Rose felt an overwhelming wave of relief and joy.

"She's here," Leo had said, his voice choked with emotion as he looked down at their newborn daughter. "Our little Lilly."

When the nurse placed Lilly on Rose's chest, Rose felt a connection so deep that it brought tears to her eyes. She gazed at her daughter, this tiny, perfect being, and felt her heart swell with love.

"Hi, Lilly," Rose whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "We've been waiting for you, sweet girl."

Leo had leaned in, his eyes wet with tears as he looked at his wife and daughter. "She's beautiful, just like her mom," he said softly, his voice full of pride and love.

Returning to the Present

As the flashback faded, Rose returned to the present, her eyes meeting Leo's across the Thanksgiving table. They shared a knowing smile, both thinking of the journey they had been on together, from the birth of their first child to the life they had built as a family.
