Krista woke up the next day and climbed out of bed. She was shattered, yet still buzzing from the night before. She thought about what he had said, and the thought made her blush, luckily she was alone in her house. She spent the best part of the morning hunting around in her house for her phone, but to no avail.

She was hunting around for ages, and she still had no luck. She needed to go to work, so she decided to look for it later. Krista arrived for work on time, but still ran up the stairs, ready to get to work. She threw herself into her chair and Penny came over, curious at the previous night’s delights.

“So, what happened Krista?”

“When?”

“Last night, stop playing hard to get, tell me”

“Okay, it was amazing, he was amazing, the show was amazing. Every time he spoke my heart skipped a beat, I felt all lightheaded”

“Oh, you know what that is don’t you?”

“Too much drink?”

“No, you have a crush on Egan don’t you”

“No I don’t” Krista said, trying to hide her smile. Penny pushed her arm playfully and then skipped back to her desk. Krista just shook her head.

“Krista, how’s it going?” Mr Connor was surprisingly perky for that time in the morning.

“Yeah fine, why?”

“I tried to phone you earlier, you have a very manly voice”

“I’ve lost my phone”

“I know, and you’ll never guess who has it”

“Who has my phone?”

“Guess”

“Sir, pardon for me speaking out of term but tell me or I will deck you like I did to that guy who touched my butt last night.”

“I heard about that, very smooth”

“Who answered the phone?”

“Why it was a certain Irish singer whom you were interviewing yesterday”

“Serious?”

“Yeah, he wants to meet you, to return it”

“Great, when?” Krista couldn’t contain her joy and her smile was so wide it was frightening.

“Lunchtime, about 1 o’clock at the hotel he is staying at, here’s the address; I’ll have a car take you”

“Thanks” Kian Egan was staying at the Savoy, and Krista squealed with delight.

“Just remember the mission”

“Who are you James Bond or something?”

“No, in this case you are. Good luck”

Krista worked for that morning, until it was time for lunch. Luckily for her she had dressed reasonably today, so didn’t need to change. She buttoned up her grey blazer as she headed out the door and into the car. It didn’t take long to get to the hotel, luckily, and Krista walked up to the reception desk and was about to speak when a whisper came from across the lobby.

“Psst, over here” It was Kian, and he beckoned her over to him. She walked over calmly and followed him to a table for two. He pulled the chair out for her like a true gentleman, and she felt herself go red.

“So, you found me” she declared.

“Yes, and I believe this is yours” He held up her phone and handed it to her.”I’ll have to admit I was surprised when your boss phoned this morning, expecting to speak to you, he wasn’t very welcoming”

“No, count yourself lucky that you don’t have to work with him, there is a lot of pressure”

“Especially with you being the best reporter over there”

“How did you know that?”

“I did what you do, I researched you, and I found out quite a bit actually.”

“Really, like what?”

“That you are the best writer in London, and have won many awards for your writing.”

“True. Although, I found out quite a lot about you too”

“But I am on Wikipedia”

“No actually I found this out by listening to Westlife.”

“Really, what did you find out then?”

“That you really get into the music, you don’t just sing, you embody the lyrics, and you put so much emotion into your singing, it’s unbelievable”

“Maybe I’m just good at pretending”

“No way, you have something that not many singers have; empathy, the ability to put yourself in the shoes of the characters in your songs, and because of that, you are one of the best singers I have ever had the pleasure to listen to in so many songs.”

“Bloody hell, you analyse everything, how do you do that?”

“It’s a gift”

“And the way you describe your findings, if your writing is anywhere near as good as your explanations you must be the best writer in the world, let alone London”

“Thank you”

“Should we finish your interview, now that there is no time limit”

“If you don’t mind, thank you”

“Do you have your questions this time?”

“Yes, I found them on my kitchen worktop when I got home, I am useless”

“Not completely”

Krista proceeded with her questions and came to the conclusion that Kian Egan was the nicest man that she had ever met. Maybe Penny was right, maybe I do have a crush on him, Krista thought to herself. She broke out of her trance when Kian informed her that he had to go, and that he wanted to see her again, after all, now he had her number. Apparently he had taken it from her phone when it was in his possession, but Krista didn’t mind at all. She blushed when he kissed her on the cheek as a goodbye, and she strutted back to the car, aware that he was still watching her. She let out a little scream in the car, and told herself to remain calm. When she got back to the office, she set about typing up the interview, her fingers dancing over the keyboard as she typed down the memories of the Savoy moment.
