Liam, Henry, Drew, and Jake were all sat at the cafeteria table. Together. Like it always had been. Though... Drew, lately, has been seeming to be oddly jealous of Jake sometimes leaving their table to join the music freaks. Henry and Liam don't seem to be bothered by it as much as Drew is. The cafeteria is loud, but not as loud as it could be. People tend to hang out around the school for lunch. Going to the bathrooms, eating in there. Sometimes causing trouble. But some just like to enjoy their time eating in the garden. The Jomies never like leaving to eat around the school.
Except for Jake. It's odd. He's never left. That is... until he joined the music club. Drew suspects that he's not actually leaving to eat somewhere else, but instead going to see Hailey or something.
Drew's worrying about it more than he wishes he was.
"Im telling you, Liam. There's more to the new episode! I have already made theories, you gotta hear me out." Henry defends. "It's just a bonus episode! You're thinking too hard about it." Liam responded before stuffing more food in his mouth.
Drew wasn't listening to whatever the two were talking about in the moment. He didn't care to listen about the new anime episodes, he thought it was pretty silly of them to watch. But they were his friends, so he was forced to not say anything about it. Jake wasn't talking, just thinking. As usual. It made Drew want to scoff at him, even though Drew wasn't listening to anything they were saying either. It was just different when it was Jake not listening.
A glass window broke. A.. glass window.. broke? It was loud, and got everyone's attention. It was so out of the blue. And there was a quiet thump after the loud, obnoxious glass noise. The cafeteria went silent. It was almost eerie for this room full of rowdy students to be so quiet. Everyone had their heads turned to the window that broke. There was a bit of blood on the glass. Which concerned Drew for once. It took Jake awhile to even turn his head and notice.
Students sitting near the window began seeming panicked, backing up from the window and beginning to rush out of their seats. They were looking at something on the floor, but the cafeteria table was covering whatever it was. Drew was trying to get a good look at what was over across the cafeteria that was making the students so scared. It couldn't just be the blood. He squinted a bit. A person, bloody headed person with cuts all over their arms, stood up from the floor. Drew noticed the abnormal skin color and how... not human they looked. They almost looked harmless for a moment of just standing there, unfazed after just throwing themselves through a window.
But that quickly changed. Very, very quickly. They threw themselves across the lunch table in front of them and onto and student sitting there. Pretty much pouncing on the innocent student like a wild animal, aggressively gnawing at the students neck underneath them. The quietness of the cafeteria suddenly sounded to be a bunch of panicked students rushing out. Some recording on their phones.. obviously. They were brain dead students.
Whoever it was that got tackled by the pale creature... began to turn into one. It was an odd sight; their skin slowly changing color. Veins appearing everywhere. Their movement becoming less human like, and more broken, as if their bones suddenly loosened. Those - seemingly infected - people moved like marionettes in a way. Just... not normal whatsoever. And before Drew knew it, there were more that threw themselves throw the already broken window, also attacking students. It was like an infection, and his eyes were glued to the sight for some unknown reason.
Liam, despite being one of the most immature at this table, somehow was the first to take actual action. He began sitting up, Liam leading Drew, Jake, and Henry to do the same. None of them spoke, Liam was just quickly looking for somewhere they could go. He spotted the kitchen. The tall boy quickly grabbed everyone's arms, or at the very least attempting to lead them to the kitchen. They were all a bit too shaken up of the sight of some rabid student attacking an innocent. It was a bloody, gross sight. Liam opened the door to the empty kitchen, letting all of his friends go in first. The zombies seemed to be distracted in attacking other students.
All of the jomies were inside the cafeteria kitchen, hiding on the floor. None of them spoke. They were all scared. Even Drew, who all of them kind of figured wasn't afraid of anything. They stayed against the counters on the dirty floor, huddled up near each other. And they stayed there for what felt like forever before they heard the rest of the cafeteria go silent. Henry was hugging onto Liam a bit as if his life depended on it. Which makes him seem all soft and clingy, but Liams his best friend. Even before Drew and Jake. So it just felt natural to want to be a bit closer to him in the moment.
"... how did you know to get us out of there so fast?" Drew asked to Liam calmly, interrupting the silence. "I watch a lot of zombie movies." Liam exclaimed proudly. "So you're telling us those are.. zombies." Drew sounded more in disbelief rather than scared. "I thought Zombies were supposed to be green!" Henry chimed in, holding onto Liams arm like a koala. "So if you're some 'zombie connoisseur', then you know how to survive this?" Jake asked Liam. "Pretty much." "You're going to be the first one to die." Drew said blankly to Liam. Probably joking, but knowing him, he wasn't.
