Eve.
I stayed in the living room with Joanne, the both of us revising some topics on engineering and physics,
'It's a simple problem, just keep the formulas in mind.' Joanne twisted her pen between her fingers, slouching as her eyes skimmed through the textbook pages.
'You say that about every question.' I scoffed, frowning as I reached a roadblock In my calculation.
'Centripetal Force, eve.' Joanne glanced at my workbook. 'Not centrifugal.'
'Dang it!' I force whispered in frustrating, starting over.
'Chill.' She smiled in amusement. 'You dominate, it doesn't dominate you.'
'I feel pretty dominated right now.' I said, my forehead glistening with beads of sweat. 'When's the test starting anyway?!'
'Do you want it to start when you're not ready?' Joanne laughed, picking up her novel.
It wasn't fair..
'Let's just get over it.' I sighed, closing the book when I finished. 'My mind feels jam packed.'
Whoever got the best scores could go out..
Wherever they wanted..
Why did it have to be based on our academia?
I rubbed the side of my head slowly, stopping when aunt may walked up to us.
'Eve, Joanne.' She said, hands crossed. 'It's time.'
Joanne stared at me, I nodded before standing.
I could only do my best.
Hopefully physicals won't be so gruesome.
We gathered in the classroom for the written exam. The classrooms were located in another building in the estate, far from the main house, closer to the mini forest.
We all had classes from Monday to Thursday, while Friday's were for physicals and paintball.
Each child was promoted based on their scores, and luckily none of us had failed before, so the older kids were all in the same class, and we were about done with secondary education, so our studies now covered a bit on higher education, other times we'd branch out and learn interesting subjects like archaeology and survival instincts. It was fun.
One of the few things I enjoyed at least.
I took a seat next to the window, watching the dancing trees of the forest, if I looked close enough I could see two little blue and grey birds in a nest, on a distant tree. One had a slender branch in its beak, adjusting the nest, the other stared around sharply, almost like it was on the lookout.
I smiled at their cuteness before a sheet of paper was placed on my table. I looked up, uncle Toby smiling at me reassuringly, he walked by and shared the remaining sheets, Joanne mock bowed as she took her sheet, two rows away from my seat.
She caught me staring and winked.
I smiled at her, knowing this wasn't even an issue for Joanne, maybe just a memory test, like someone asking what she ate the night before, or what the color of the soil was outside.
Wish it were that easy though.
Marcy sat a few seats behind her, staring at her fingers silently, it was always like that, she talked to no one before any test, and she always did quite well, but with Joanne and Marcus in the same class,
Not quite well enough.
Dianne and Stella sat on the two separate rows before and after Joanne's, Marcus sitting a chair behind Diane, August behind Stella.
