Pain

''What is pain?''

You dare to ask, and I look at you, with jealous eyes.

You never felt that? That's amazing! Teach me your ways!

I'm being drowned by the beautiful and misty rain,

That has its own magic, zooming out of the haze.

You still look at me, narrowing your eyes, trying to find the answer,

''Well, it depends'' I say, looking at the stars, and then at you.

''I'm not sure that you want to hear, if you're ready to hear the truth''

''I am!'' You say, the innocence in you coming out, prancing around like a dancer.

''Well, pain is like a sharp knife,

That you are trying to leave behind, but still, you're protecting it with your life.

Because it's the only thing that's left from the person you love,

And your shattered-heart is confused like a pure dove..

It's the thing you never asked for, though you need it,

To heal, to become the brave person you need to be, to become stronger,

And even if you may cry at dawn, at night, cause you can't bear to hold it any longer..

You must, because that's what makes us living things,

And if we didn't feel it, we'd cut any possible strings,

Of hope,

We'd be hanging everything by a rope..

Is pain something we need to be afraid of? Yes.

Is it something we can stop? No.

Because, if we wouldn't experience pain, we could make any guess,

Without being afraid of the outcome,

Fear is part of life.

And if we didn't fear it, we'd be a mess,

That no one can clean it up,

We'd be partying all night in a club,

Without any worries that something bad could happen,

We'd think pain's just an emotionless feeling,

That's pretty thrilling..

So, be careful with the pain,

Because, if you never heal from what hurt you,

You'll bleed on people who didn't cut you.''
