Author's pov
Sidharth stood firm, his eyes blazing with defiance. "You'll have to kill me first," he spat, his voice echoing through the warehouse.
Tara saw her chance. With a swift movement, she stomped on the foot of the henchman holding her captive, causing him to yelp in pain. As he faltered, she seized the opportunity to break free. With a series of swift and precise moves, she delivered a perfectly aimed elbow strike to the henchman's jaw, followed by a quick knee to his stomach. The knife clattered to the ground, and Tara swiftly picked it up, pointing it at the henchman's throat.
The man's eyes widened in fear as Tara pressed the blade against his skin. "Back off," she growled, her voice low and menacing.
Sidharth watched in awe as Tara took control of the situation. He had underestimated her strength and determination.
"Leave, Sidharth," Tara said, her eyes locked on the henchman. "There's no need to give up any information. I've got this."
Sidharth hesitated, unsure if he should trust Tara to handle the situation. But as he looked into her eyes, he saw a fierce determination that made him believe she could handle anything. With a nod, he turned to leave, but not before casting a glance at his father, who seethed with anger and frustration.
As Sidharth disappeared into the shadows, Tara's grip on the knife tightened. She knew she had to get out of there, and fast. With a swift kick, she sent the henchman crashing to the ground and turned to face rajesh's men. "You're not taking anyone else down today," she said, her voice firm and resolute.
Tara stumbled into the dimly lit bar, the neon signs outside reflecting off the wet pavement. The bartender, a friendly woman with a warm smile, greeted her as she took a seat on the stool. Tara ordered a whiskey on the rocks and nursed it for a while, lost in thought. As the night wore on and the drinks kept coming, her worries began to fade, replaced by a fuzzy haze.In her inebriated state, Tara wandered into a nearby convenience store, grabbing a trolley and filling it with random items - chips, cookies, a stuffed animal, and even a pack of gardening tools. She left the trolley in the middle of the aisle and stumbled out into the night air.Unbeknownst to Tara, Sidharth had been following her from the bar, concern etched on his face. He watched as she entered the store and later abandoned the trolley. Curiosity getting the better of him, he went inside and found the trolley still filled with items. Without hesitation, he paid for everything and had the store staff help him load the bags into his car.The next morning, Tara woke up to a knock on the door. She opened it to find her doorstep overflowing with bags and boxes. Confusion gave way to shock as she realized it was everything she had put in that trolley the night before. And then she saw the note attached to one of the bags - "Hope this helps with your stress, Tara. -S"Tara's eyes widened in surprise, her mind racing to process how all this had ended up on her doorstep. She felt a mix of emotions - gratitude, embarrassment, and a hint of fear at the thought of Sidharth following her.Sidharth, watching from afar, felt a sense of satisfaction knowing he had done something thoughtful for Tara, even if it was a bit unconventional. He hoped it would bring a smile to her face and help ease her stress. Little did he know, Tara was already smiling, feeling a spark of connection with this mysterious benefactor.
Tara's povI thought I had finally moved on from Sidharth's betrayal. But then, I saw him again, and all the emotions came flooding back. I tried to avoid him, blocking him from my social media phone hoping to erase him from my life. But he wouldn't let me be. He started messaging me, finding excuses to talk to me. I ignored him, but he persisted. And then, one day, he showed up out of nowhere, speeding alongside our car on his bike.My sister Kriti and I were on our way to pick up our younger sister when Sidharth appeared, his eyes fixed on me. He banged on the window, yelling "Tara!" My heart skipped a beat as Kriti quickly rolled up the window, shielding me from him."Why did he do that?" I asked Kriti, trying to hide the tremble in my voice.Kriti knew exactly how Sidharth had hurt me. She reminded me of all the times he had played with my emotions, used me for his revenge. Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes as the memories came flooding back. But then, Sidharth yelled again, his voice cracking with desperation. "Tara, please listen! You blocked me from everywhere. All I want to do is talk!"More tears fell as I hesitated, my resolve weakening. Kriti looked at me worriedly, but I knew I had to face him. I rolled down the window, and Sidharth's eyes locked onto mine."You've done enough, Sidharth," I said, my voice shaking. "I loved you when you were playing with me. But I won't let you hurt me again."Sidharth's face contorted in anguish, but I steeled myself against his charm. I knew I had to protect myself from him. But as I looked into his eyes, I saw a glimmer of the Sidharth I once loved, and my heart ached with longing.
