The waft crashed through the window curtains.

A young lady sat reading, freshly bathed, her sleek fingers tucking her matted, swaying strands behind her ear. The tendrils sliding from her neck formed dark spots on her yellow blouse.

Lips thinned, she struggled to configure the difficult text but couldn't. Bondita sat behind her desk chair, textbooks scattered, and studying.

She gazed at the crescent moon, peppered with luminous stars. The door to her room flipped open.

Aniruddh's eyes met hers, bringing his jumbled thoughts to a standstill.

Lips parting, he glanced at the slow dance of her raven strands near her face. He looked down at his fingers, which fidgeted together.

He heard the faint chime of bangles and saw her continue writing in her copy, not sparing him another glance.

Aniruddh felt himself smiling stupidly. 'Is she angry? But she looks like a deer caught in a red light.'

"Just half an hour more, I'll go to sleep. I have some notes to make," she clarified, answering his unasked question.

It had become a ritual lately; he would come to her bedroom at night, check on her for a few moments to make himself sure, and then leave.

He waltzed behind her, intriguingly glancing down at the notes she was making.

He leaned down, his hands caging her protectively.

Her writing paused, as his cologne filled her lungs. Her hands grew clammy.

His hand reached to cup hers, and with a skipping heartbeat and parted lips, her head snapped to him.

Eyes sparkling in the soft night lamp as she gazed at him.

Aniruddh felt the warmth of those sweet, puffy sighs colliding against his chin.

Those dark orbs descended on the deep pits of honey eyes, and then slowly on her quivering lips that held the desire to express unknown phrases.

He breathed shallowly, a sweet fragrance captivating his senses.

"Rose and sandalwood?" He couldn't help but say. Bondita cleared her throat at his husky voice, timidly looking down and nodding.

His restless finger moved to put the disturbing awry strand away from her face, taking another sniff. Aniruddh was... enchanted. He could get used to this, to her.

But...

A metallic sound broke the spell. Her geometry box clattered, she swiveled her face to her right, bending and grabbing the fortunately closed box back.

Aniruddh's hold on the pen tightened as she came back to that proximity, only this time her focus was on the book in front. He followed her eyes and cross-corrected a few words.

"Kitni baar kaha hai... mushkil cheeze akele mat padha kro (How many times have I told you - do not read tough lessons alone!)"

"Kyu?"

"Taaki ham saath saari samasya paar kar sake (So we can overcome all the problems together)"

With that said, he stumbled back, running an awkward hand through his hair.

"Pati Babu" Bondita beckoned, drawing the conversation from earlier.

"Hm"

"Where must a reproductive organ in a human body be, and what is their use?" she asked.

"Why do you ask?" He was caught off guard, feeling heat rushing to his cheeks.

"I am having this chapter in biology, Chapter nine. There are short theories, but... not proper." She mentally slapped herself. 'Should she really ask him?' But her teacher in school had rushed through the chapter and started a new one the same day. When she and her batchmates queried about the topic, he dismissed students' queries by assigning those students homework for the next chapter instead.
