Jacob paced the familiar ground of the forest surrounding the Cullen’s sanctuary, the weight of his failure heavy on his shoulders. Each blade of grass and towering tree reminded him of Renesmee and the laughter they had shared just days before. The stark contrast of joy and despair consumed him. He had to go back and fight for her; he couldn’t do this alone.
After being thrown from the Volturi’s gates, Jacob had realized he needed help. The Volturi were not just formidable enemies; they were a calculated force. He would need the strength and support of the entire Cullen family to stand a chance against them. They were not just Renesmee’s family—they were his.
He set off through the woods toward the familiar, welcoming scent of the Cullen home. The sun was setting, casting an orange glow through the branches, illuminating the path ahead. With each step, Jacob felt a flicker of hope reignite. He would gather the Cullen family, and together, they would devise a plan to save Renesmee.
As he reached the clearing, the Cullen house loomed ahead, its large windows reflecting the warm hues of twilight. The moment he stepped inside, he was greeted by the familiar scents of home—his family, his friends, the memories they shared.
“Jacob!” Alice exclaimed, rushing toward him with worry etched across her face. “What happened? We felt something was wrong!”
“It’s Renesmee,” Jacob said, urgency in his voice. “Lyra betrayed us. She took her to the Volturi.”
Gasps echoed through the living room as the rest of the family gathered, their expressions a mix of shock and anger. Edward stepped forward, his brow furrowed with concern. “What do you mean, ‘took her’? How could this happen?”
“She was using us,” Jacob explained, his fists clenching at his sides. “She pretended to be Renesmee’s friend, and then she took her. We have to go to Italy and get her back.”
“Italy?” Esme whispered, her voice breaking. “The Volturi’s stronghold?”
“We don’t have a choice,” Jacob insisted, locking eyes with each of them. “We can’t just leave her there. I tried to get in, but they’re too powerful for me to handle alone.”
Rosalie’s expression hardened. “Then we need to make a plan. We have to be smart about this.”
“Agreed,” Carlisle said, his voice calm and authoritative. “We should gather all the information we can about their defenses and find a way to get Renesmee out safely. We can’t just rush in blindly.”
“Okay,” Jacob said, nodding. “But we need to move fast. They’ll be watching her closely. I can’t imagine Aro will give her any freedom.”
Alice’s eyes sparkled with determination. “I can help with that. I’ll use my visions to see if there’s any weakness in their defenses. We’ll find a way.”
“Let’s split up and gather our supplies,” Jasper suggested, his voice steady. “We’ll need to be prepared for anything when we get there.”
In a flurry of activity, the Cullens set to work. Edward focused on gathering information from the vampire community to learn about the Volturi’s movements, while Alice began to sift through her visions, searching for any glimmer of hope. Rosalie and Emmett checked their gear, ensuring they were equipped for the journey ahead.
Jacob felt the weight of their trust in him. He was grateful for their support, but the stakes were high. The thought of Renesmee alone with the Volturi sent a chill down his spine. They would have to act quickly.
