The fluorescent lights of the university library buzzed overhead, casting a sterile glow over the rows of silent students. Pond Naravit, nestled in a corner booth with his textbook open before him, couldn't focus. His gaze kept drifting towards the familiar figure across the room. Phuwin Tangsakyuen, his best friend since childhood, was engrossed in a conversation with Joong Archen, their other close friend. Pond felt a familiar pang of jealousy.

Their families, the Naravits and the Tangsakyuen, were business partners, their companies intertwined in a web of lucrative deals. Their fathers, both powerful figures in the Bangkok underworld, had forged a bond of mutual respect and understanding, a bond that extended to their children. Pond and Phuwin had grown up together, their families practically inseparable, their friendship a natural extension of their parents' bond.

But somewhere along the way, Pond's feelings for Phuwin had blossomed into something more. He found himself drawn to Phuwin's quiet strength, his artistic sensitivity, the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he smiled.  He loved the way Phuwin could find beauty in the most ordinary things, the way he could make the world a little brighter with his art.

He longed to tell Phuwin how he felt, to confess the truth that had been simmering beneath the surface of their friendship for years. But fear held him back, the fear of rejection, the fear of jeopardizing their fragile bond.  Pond was a sensitive soul, a man who valued others' feelings above his own.  He was also fiercely possessive, a trait that amplified his jealousy whenever Phuwin seemed to be getting closer to someone else.

These days, Phuwin seemed to be spending more and more time with Joong.  They would hang out after class, share lunch, and even walk home together.  Pond watched their interactions with a growing sense of unease.  He couldn't shake the feeling that something was different, that their friendship was shifting, that Phuwin was drifting away from him.

Pond pov

One afternoon, as they were walking back to their dorm after class, Pond noticed Phuwin's gaze lingering on Joong.  He saw the way Phuwin's eyes lit up when Joong smiled, the way his hand instinctively reached out to touch Joong's arm.  Pond felt a wave of jealousy wash over him, a feeling that was both painful and confusing.

"You seem distracted," Pond said, his voice laced with a hint of concern.

Phuwin looked at him, a flicker of guilt crossing his face.  "Oh, just thinking about my art project," he said, his voice soft.

Pond knew that Phuwin wasn't being truthful, that he was hiding something from him.  He wanted to ask him what was going on, to ask him if he was seeing someone new, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.  He was too afraid of the answer, too afraid of what he might find out.

Later that week, Dunk confessed his feelings for Joong, revealing that he had been harboring a secret crush on his best friend for months.  Pond, who had known Dunk since high school, was surprised but happy for his friend.  He had always known that Dunk had a soft spot for Joong, but he never imagined that their friendship would blossom into something more.

Dunk, however, was surprised by Pond's reaction.  He had expected Pond to be jealous, given their history and Pond's obvious feelings for Phuwin.  But Pond, ever the sensitive soul, had simply smiled and said, "I'm happy for you, Dunk."

Dunk, however, couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.  He knew that Pond was hiding something, that he was struggling with something, but he didn't know what.

The following week, the four friends decided to hang out at a cafe, a popular spot known for its delicious coffee and its cozy atmosphere.  Pond, feeling a mixture of excitement and anxiety, decided to dress up and arrive a little early.  He wanted to impress Phuwin, to show him that he was still the same charming, charismatic guy he had always been.

As he walked into the cafe, he saw Phuwin and Joong sitting at a table, their heads bent close together in conversation.  Pond's heart sank.  He had always been the one who picked Phuwin up, who spent time with him before their friends arrived.  But now, Joong was taking his place.

Pond felt a wave of jealousy wash over him, a feeling that was both painful and confusing.  He couldn't understand why Phuwin was choosing Joong over him, why he was spending so much time with him, why he was acting so differently around him.

He decided to find them, to see what was going on.  He walked over to their table, his heart pounding in his chest.  But before he could reach them, he saw Joong wrap his arm around Phuwin's waist, pulling him close.  Phuwin laughed, his head resting on Joong's shoulder.

Pond was stunned.  He had never seen Phuwin act so affectionate with anyone, not even him.  He felt a wave of nausea wash over him, a feeling that was both sickening and unbearable.  Tears welled up in his eyes, blurring his vision.  He turned and ran out of the cafe, unable to bear the sight of Phuwin and Joong together.

He ran to the bathroom, his heart pounding in his chest.  He locked himself in a stall, his body trembling with a mixture of anger, sadness, and confusion.  He couldn't believe what he had seen, couldn't believe that Phuwin was in love with Joong, couldn't believe that he had been so blind.

He pulled out his phone and called Dunk, his voice trembling with emotion.  "Dunk," he said, his voice choked with tears.  "You have to come here right now."

Dunk, who was already at the cafe, was surprised by Pond's urgent call.  He could hear the pain in Pond's voice, the desperation in his tone.  He knew that something was wrong, that something had happened.

"What's wrong, Pond?" Dunk asked, his voice filled with concern.

"I… I saw something," Pond said, his voice barely a whisper.  "I saw Phuwin and Joong… together."

Dunk's heart sank.  He knew that this was the moment he had been dreading, the moment that would change their lives forever.  He knew that Pond was in love with Phuwin, that he had been hiding his feelings for years, that he had been hoping that Phuwin would feel the same way.

"What do you mean?" Dunk asked, his voice filled with a mixture of disbelief and anxiety.

"I saw them hugging," Pond said, his voice filled with a mixture of anger and sadness.  "They were… they were so close."

Dunk's heart ached for Pond, his best friend, the man who had always been there for him, who had always been so supportive and understanding.  He knew that this was a painful moment for Pond, a moment that would change their lives forever.

"I'm so sorry, Pond," Dunk said, his voice filled with sympathy.  "I didn't know."

"It's okay," Pond said, his voice filled with a weariness that was both heartbreaking and profound.  "It's not your fault."

But Dunk knew that it wasn't okay, that Pond was hurting, that he was in pain.  He knew that he had to be there for Pond, that he had to support him, that he had to help him through this difficult time.

"I'm here for you, Pond," Dunk said, his voice filled with a sincere empathy.  "Whatever you need, I'm here."

Pond hung up the phone, his heart heavy with a mixture of sadness and anger.  He couldn't believe what he had seen, couldn't believe that Phuwin was in love with Joong, couldn't believe that he had been so blind.

He felt a wave of despair wash over him, a feeling that was both overwhelming and suffocating.  He couldn't understand why Phuwin was choosing Joong over him, why he was spending so much time with him, why he was acting so differently around him.

He felt a sense of betrayal, a feeling that was both painful and confusing.  He had always been there for Phuwin, had always been his best friend, had always been the one who had been there for him through thick and thin.  And now, Phuwin was choosing someone else, someone who had only recently entered their lives.

He felt a sense of isolation, a feeling that was both frightening and inescapable.  He had always been surrounded by his friends, his family, his loved ones.  But now, he felt alone, lost in a world that had suddenly become cold and unforgiving.
