As it receded, the man beneath was revealed. His black eyes opened, and Irina smiled, greeting him- Welcome, Klein Moretti, to my very own personal library.
'Why, just why is he standing? Whenever I enter the library, I always end up on the floor! Even Alexandria favors the Protagonist to me! Its own Warden!'
Klein looked around curiously- It's good to see you again. If I have to be honest, I was expecting someone else.
Irina pointed at the couch, inviting him to sit down- "He" is not here. It's just me.
Klein looked at her with veiled surprise- "He"? So this place is not yours.
Irina smiled- No, it isn't. I can use it, yes, but not freely. You could say I'm "His" blessed one. This library is dangerous, a lot of the books in here could make anyone lose themselves, be corrupted, or worse.
'It isn't fully mine, Nefiref is still it's half Warden, just like me. I can't use it freely; the more I stay inside, the more energy I consume.'
Klein seemed to think about it shortly- Not you tough. You have a special 'protection' after all.
Irina sighed- Yes, but it's not omnipotent. It's stronger when I'm in this library, like a higher Sequence, but outside it's very much normal. I felt some strain when carrying the Antigonus Notebook after all. While in here, I was able to read knowledge about the future.
Klein's eyes widened at that- You know the future?
Irina sighed once more- That would be incorrect. The future is constantly changing. Also, I was only able to read a small portion and- look, Klein. This world is different from ours. There's great danger at every corner, there's always someone or something scheming behind your back. You have to understand that I cannot tell you more.
The Seer's expression was serious- Why exactly? I don't want a precise answer, just what you're able to tell me.
Irina looked down at her hands- In the future, great danger will befall the Blackthorn Security Company. I am trying to prevent it. I have already succeeded in my first step, stopping the Captain from touching that Notebook.
Irina took a small break before continuing- If you knew about it. 'It' would plan ahead and disrupt your plan. That's why I wanted to talk with you here, away from any prying eyes.
Klein was silent as he thought before replying- I think I understand for now.
'I really can't say much more because of that damned quill. Perhaps I'll tell him more once he's proclaimed 'dead'.'
The History Teacher smiled- So... You mentioned China?
The Seer was dragged away from his thoughts- Oh- Yes. My name was Zhou Mingrui. I didnˋt have such a remarkable life there, I was a corporate slave like any other. I woke up here, as Klein Moretti not long ago. Truly a strange occurrence.
Irina laughed lightly- It looks like we didn't have such different lives. I worked as a secretary. Wanna guess what my last memories are? Falling off of a rooftop during a company celebration. Truly wonderful way to go, I guess.
Klein's lips turned down- I'm sorry to hear about it.
She waved him off- Don't be. I didn't have much there. I was an orphan in both lives, you know? I went to school, got a degree, and immediately started working at the first shitty place I could find. I didn't even have many friends. I basically lived online when not on the clock. Quite the recluse if you were to ask my previous coworkers.
The Seer smiled- I can understand you. I also spent the majority of my free time online. I remember playing this game called...
The two chatted for a while, enjoying the memories of different times while also getting to know each other better. Irina didn't know how long it had been until she started feeling a strain in her energy- I'm really starting to get tired here, dear Klein.
