The days passed by in a blur of laughter and shared moments. Haerin and Danielle continued trying to figure it out her almost kinda relationship, and despite the small challenges of adjusting to being a couple, their feelings only grew stronger. They went out often, savoring each moment and building memories together. Their happiness became palpable to everyone around them, creating a contagious atmosphere among their friends and classmates.
One day, in the campus café, the group of friends was gathered, sharing stories and laughs. Haerin and Dani exchanged that special spark only someone in love can have. It was like they were surrounded by a halo of light that made them stand out. Every time they shared a look or a smile, it was clear to everyone that they were completely absorbed in each other.
As the group settled and enjoyed their food, Haerin got up to get a coffee. The café was packed, but Haerin found a brief respite in line at the coffee machine. While waiting, she ran into Kai, who was also waiting for his turn.
"Hey," Haerin greeted, a bit surprised but smiling. "Didn't expect to see you here."
Kai, with a friendly expression, responded with a smile.
"Hey, what a coincidence. I was just hunting for my daily caffeine fix." He paused and then added playfully, "Do you think my coffee is taking longer than usual?"
Haerin laughed, naturally breaking the ice. Although it was a bit awkward at first, Kai's joke eased the atmosphere.
"Maybe it's trying to decide if it should be sweeter or more..."
"Maybe it's trying to match the sweetness you and Danielle are rumored to have around campus lately," Kai joked. "Sounds like a good reason for a long wait." Kai adjusted himself and continued, "So, how are things with Marsh?"
Haerin blushed slightly but her smile grew wider.
"It's going really well." She paused, trying not to make things awkward for Kai more than she already had. "We're having a great time together."
Kai nodded, his sincere gaze reflecting a mix of admiration and support.
"That's great. You look happier than ever." Kai paused before continuing. "I'm glad to see that smile on your face. It's like you've found what truly makes you happy."
Haerin opened her mouth to speak and try to apologize for everything, but Kai interrupted.
"No, no, no. You don't need to apologize for anything." Kai looked at her seriously. "I'm happy to see you've found someone who makes you really happy. What happened between us is in the past. What matters is that you follow your heart."
Haerin looked at him gratefully.
"Thanks. I appreciate your words."
Kai gave her a warm smile.
"Well, I'm glad everything is going well. Good luck with Marsh." He said goodbye to Haerin, then threw one last glance toward Danielle, who was watching the interaction from afar, and gave her a knowing smile. He waved a friendly goodbye before leaving.
Dani, who had been watching from a corner with her friends, felt a mix of intrigue and jealousy. However, she knew that this encounter was important for Haerin. She decided to push those feelings aside and focus on the present moment.
When Haerin returned with her coffee, Dani noticed her relieved and happy expression, and her friends realized the camaraderie between the exes.
"Everything okay?" Dani asked.
