Renna was in history class, doodling in her notebook. She was still confused but had settled into a routine of stealing Elena's diary (she didn't hide it well at all).Tanner, the most annoying history teacher in the world, kept speaking as if the students cared about what he was saying. "The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?"
Bonnie looked at him, shocked that he picked her. "Um...a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot."
"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett. Mr. Donovan? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?" he asked crossing his arms. Renna made a face at him that didn't go unnoticed by Henry.
He chuckled and she shot him a cheesy look. The two of them had started texting a lot after their little pool game. Renna found herself really liking the boy. It was odd because back home she never caught any boy's attention.
Wherever home was at this point.
Matt smirked. "It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it."
Tanner caught Elena longingly staring at Stefan who was staring right back. "Hmm. Elena? Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significant historical events?"
"I'm sorry, I--I don't know."
"I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break," he said, making Renna's jaw drop.
"Dick."
Tanner glared at the girl but before he could give her detention his attention was taken from him again.
"There were 346 casualties. Unless you're counting local civilians," Stefan pipped up, saving the two sisters.
"That's correct. Mister...?"
"Salvatore."
Tanner clicked his tongue. "Salvatore. Any relation to the original settlers here at Mystic Falls?"
"Distant."
Tanner had his arms crossed and went to walk back to his desk to get Renna a detention slip. "Well, very good. Except, of course, there were no civilian casualties in this battle."
Stefan's voice stopped him again. "Actually, there were 27, sir. Confederate soldiers, they fired on the church, believing it to be housing weapons. They were wrong. It was a night of great loss. The founder's archives are, uh, stored in the civil hall if you'd like to brush up on your facts, Mr. Tanner."
Everyone snickered at how pissed Tanner looked. As he leaned over, his entire desk completely fell apart. Tanner fell on it as the bell rang, groaning in pain.
Not a single one of his students stopped to help him.
Henry made his way up to Renna as she exchanged her books. "You still going later?" he asked, a little nervous.
