A medevac chopper lands on the roof of Sedona Hospital and medics rush Kira inside. Beth looks on in shock and says, "Aunt Kira! What happened?"
"Possible skull fracture", says a medic.
Beth checks her aunt over and says, "Aunt Kira! Can you hear me!"
Dr. Brewster rushes up to Beth, examines Kira, and asks, Dr. Pappas-Decker, do you know this woman?"
"This is my Aunt Kira." Beth says with a worried look on her face.
Xena and Gabrielle rushes in and Beth asks Xena, "What happened to Aunt Kira?!?"
"She was riding Roscoe almost coming up to us when we heard gunshots. Roscoe got spooked and threw Aunt Kira to the ground and took off. Aunt Kira hit her head on a huge rock." Xena says.
"Gun Shots!" Beth says in shock.
Suddenly Sydney and Lauren rushes in and Sydney asks, "What happened to Aunt Kira!"
"I have to check on her. Jessie, I mean Xena, will tell you what happened." Beth says as Dr. Brewster and her roll Kira into an examination room.
Sydney looks at Xena and asks, "What happened?"
"We were out riding Blaze and Sierra and saw Aunt Kira on Roscoe about half a mile from us. As we started riding to her, we heard gunshots." Xena says.
"Gunshots!" Sydney says in shock. "From where!"
"From the stables," Gabrielle says.
"The stables!" Sydney says in shock.
Meanwhile, in the examination room, Dr. Brewster and Beth examine Kira. Dr. Brewster says to Beth, "We need an MRI on her to determine if there isn't any brain damage." Dr. Brewster and Beth wheeled Kira into the MRI room.
While Xena and Gabrielle are on their phones, Sydney says, "Where's dad? He needs to know what happened!"
Suddenly Jim rushes in and says, "What happened to Kira!"
Xena hands up her phone and then says, "Aunt Kira was riding Roscoe. She was about a quarter of a mile away from Gabrielle and me when we heard gunshots coming from the stable area. It spooked Roscoe and that's when Aunt Kira went down, smacking her head on a huge rock."
Gabrielle hangs up her phone and then says, "Joxer and Maxie found Roscoe walking near the road. Joxer was able to get Roscoe back to the stables."
"Kira doesn't have any guns!" Jim says with a worried look on his face.
Suddenly Dr. Garcia, Dr. Brewster, and Beth come out and face the family. Dr. Garcia then says, "You must be the Pappas-Decker family. It's an honor to meet you all."
"What's wrong with Kira?" Jim asks.
"She suffered a hairline fracture from the fall. It went from the right side of her forehead going a quarter of the way into her skull." Dr. Garcia says. "To avoid any bleeding to the brain, we will have to operate."
"Operate!" Jim says in fear.
"We will have to shave some of her hair, but we assure you all that she will be in good hands." Dr. Brewster says.
"I will be assisting them," Beth says.
Xena looks at Beth and says, "You better take good care of her."
"I will Xena. I promise." Beth says.
Xena looks at Gabrielle and says, "Gabrielle you and Cyane stay here with our father. Ephiny and I are going to do some investigating."
"We are?" Sydney says.
"Yes, we are," Xena says to her middle sister. "I'll explain in the Jeep." Xena looks back at Gabrielle and Cyane and says, "Keep us posted."
Jim gets up and says to his two daughters, "Kira never had any guns on the ranch. Find out who did this to her."
Xena looks at her dad tenderly and says, "Don't worry Dad, we will." About 30 minutes later, Xena and Ephiny are at the ranch, exploring the stables. Looking at everything.
"So what are we looking for?" Ephiny asks.
"Anything that will help us find who did this to Aunt Kira." Xena says. They look around the outside of the stables searching for clues when Ephiny finds something.
"Xena, come look at this." Ephiny says. Xena walks over and sees shell casings and picks one up and examines it.
Meanwhile back at the hospital, Dr. Garcia, Dr. Brewster and Beth begins the operation.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Dr. Pappas-Decker?" Dr. Garcia asks.
"I need to," Beth says. "She's the closest thing to mother that my sisters and I have had most of our lives."
"Well then, let's begin." Dr. Brewster says as she hands Beth a pair of clippers. "Just shave enough so we can operate."
Beth takes the clippers and says, "It's only hair, Aunt Kira. It'll grow back." Beth shaves part of the right side of thef Kira's head, enough to operate.
"Shall we begin?" Dr. Garcia says as he takes a scalpel and cuts open Kira's skull and the three doctors begin the surgery. "So Dr. Papas-Decker, tell me about your younger sisters."
Meanwhile back at the stables, Xena and Ephiny stair down at three shell casings. Xena picks them up, studying them. "I recognize these casings," Xena says as she flips them over.
"Why do you recognize them?" Ephiny asks.
Xena gets an angry look on her face and says, "See the stamp on the bottom," Xena says as Ephiny looks at them.
"Is that a police stamp on that casing?" Ephiny asks.
"Yep!" Xena says. "Look closer".
Ephiny looks closer and sees a sheriff's stamp and says, "Oh my god!"
"Ephiny put these away for safekeeping, and let's get back to the hospital," Xena says as she hands the shell casings to her sister, who puts them in her jean pocket.
