Realization

Marinette woke with a scream. Her body ached in protest at her sudden action and she groaned in pain. Where was she? What had happened? Last thing she remembered was fighting Lila. She froze as the fight came back to her, images flashing through her mind in blinding reality.
Lila. The knife. The pain. Chat Noir holding her as she bled.
Her eyes snapped open as realization sunk in. She was in the hospital. She, Ladybug, was in the hospital as Marinette. Her breath quickened as the implication ate away at her. If Chat had brought her here then that meant-

"Marinette!"

Her head spun as it whipped toward the door, eyes widening and tears threatening to fall at the figure in the doorway. Adrien stood in the doorway, body tense and hands gripping the doorway. He looked exhausted and his clothes were wrinkled from what Marinette could only assume was sleepless nights.

"A-Adrien?"

He burst forward. He quickly and gently climbed into her bed, his arms wrapping around her and pulling her into his embrace. One hand found its way into her hair, the other gripping the back of her hospital gown in a desperate grip. He held her as though she was his lifeline. His breath quivered as he planted a soft kiss onto the top of her head, tears soaking into her hair. He looked deep into her eyes as though trying to convince himself she was real and she was indeed in his arms. His breath ghosted over her lips, her hands coming to grip his own shirt.

"M'lady, don't you ever do that shit again; you hear me?"

Her eyes widened as she stared at him, her lips parting and her eyes darting over his features. The ever familiar green eyes. The tussled and unstyled hair. The strength of the arms she's been in many times before.

This was her Chat Noir. Her kitty was here. He was here and he knew who she was.

Tears burst from her eyes, her body pulling away from him and enclosing herself into the hospital blanket. Adrien sat stunned as she closed herself off from him. His heart ached as he heard quiet cries coming from his princess. He gently ran a hand over the bundle of Marinette, his voice threatening to unveil his hurt.

"Marinette? What is it?"

"Are you disappointed?"

His heart stopped as he took in her words. "What? Disappointed? What is there to be disappointed about?" Another sob ripped through the blanket, her shoulders clearly shaking through the fabric as she hid herself deeper into the dark cocoon.

"Are you disappointed now that you know? That the miraculous Ladybug is just regular Marinette? That Ladybug is just a nobody? That Ladybug is just a-"

Her words cut off as Adrien ripped the blanket from around her and threw it across the room with rage. He gently pulled her up to him and cupped a hand into her hair, melding his lips onto hers. Neither moved as eyes closed and emotions passed between them. Marinette reached out a shaking hand and gripped his nape, pulling him closer to him as her lips moved against his. He bit her lower lip causing her to gasp and his tongue battled hers in the emotional dance of dominance. He pulled her flush against him and his grip tightened in her hair as she let out a soft moan against his lips. Gently they parted, his forehead resting against hers and his eyes locking on her. Their breath came in huffs, neither wanting to separate from the other.

"I'm far from disappointed M'lady. I couldn't have wished it to be anyone else under that mask."

He caught himself as she launched at him again, her lips crashing into his with a passion so intoxicating he didn't want to let her go. Their lips danced together, teeth biting in teasing pulls and hands gripping each other for dear life. A pained gasp broke the passion, Adrien pulling back and looking at her in worry. She blushed gently and rubbed her stomach, bandages wrapped tightly around her.
