Work was going on as usual, giving the island rep evaluations of the place, snatching coffee from Mr. Nooks hand and texting Digby occasionally. It was around 9am, but Isabelle had already seen Mr. Nook drink 3 mugs of coffee. She really needed to get rid of that coffee maker.

She started a new book today and was feeling her best. Most of her work had been finished for hours, but her shift didn't end til 5. It's not like she had much work anyway, a couple of documents, and that's about it. Her new book reminded her of her childhood quite a bit. The boy in the book was almost an exact copy of how she used to act. She hasn't read the whole book, so she didn't know what had happened to him yet.

She was sitting at her desk when her boss got up from his side of the desk. He slowly tried to walk over to the coffee machine, but Isabelle was not going to let this man get a heart attack from caffeine intake. She gave him a concerned look before standing up and blocking him from going any further.

"Mr Nook, don't you think that's enough coffee? One day, you're going to have a heart attack if you keep these bad habits up." She claimed, quickly realizing how loud she just spoke to her boss.

Her poor boss Tom Nook was taken aback for a split second. Normally, the boss is the one scolding the workers, not the other way around. "Hmm, maybe you are right. These habits won't go away on their own. Although isn't the boss supposed to scold the workers? Not the other way around!" He chuckled, trying to light the surprisingly uncomfortable mood. He already knew Isabelle didn't mean to be that loud.

Isabelle looked petrified by her tone of voice. "Sorry, Mr. Nook, I  just think that might be a bit too much coffee for one person." She lowered her tone of voice again, seeing nobody else was in the room. "You should probably get more sleep."

"Ah, well, there is a whole island to keep up with. Yes, yes? It can't run itself. But I reassure you I get a proper amount of sleep if that's what you're worried about." He walked over to the counter as he heard the bell on the door ring and the door creak open. Isabelle was fully aware that that was a lie, but she didn't say anything to avoid another embarrassing moment.

Isabelle sat back down and glanced at who walked in. Seeing it was the island rep, she went back to what she was doing. "I swear I'm going to chuck the coffee machine out the window if he keeps this up." She whispered to herself, not realizing how quiet the room was, again.

"Oh yeah? How about you just give it to me instead." The island rep," Gracie said with her hand on her hip, staring right into Isabelles' soul. "Or not, but I do want a coffee." She started laughing when Isabelle looked up, wide-eyed.

Isabelle rested the side of her face on her hand. "You didn't hear a thing, stay quiet, and you can have all the coffee in the world. She smiled, knowing she wasn't being sassy to her boss anymore, but to her friend.

"Will do, captain!" Gracie smirked and went back to talking with Tom. It was something about a new bridge. But Isabelle didn't hear a thing. She was too busy trying not to laugh at Gracies remarkable response.

She went back to reading her book, burying her head into it so Tom wouldn't see her trying not to laugh. She calmed down rather quickly when she heard pounding rain on the window. She straightened her back and glanced at Tom. "Mr Nook, did you check the weather forecast? That sounds like pretty heavy rain..."

Tom rolled his chair he was sitting in over to the window and took a peak outside. "No, I didn't.. but as long as it doesn't get worse, the island should be fine." Gracie looked a bit concerned as well, going to look out the same window Tom was looking out of.

"So what happens if the rain gets too bad?" Gracie questioned, fidgeting with the chain on her purse. "Would the whole island be flooded?" The concern in her voice quickly came visible as she was speaking in a louder tone.
