THE DAYS FOLLOWING valentina's death were some of the hardest.

when chad found out, he felt sick. he had only known valentina for a few months, but she had a huge heart and cared for people like no one else did.

when they told mindy, she immediately felt guilty. she knew that ethan was suspicious, but she let the idea of valentina being happy and finding peace get in the way of that, and now she was dead.

her brother's and her best friend's constant reassurance provided mindy enough comfort to be the one to tell valentina's parents.

she felt terrible as she watched valentina's mother cry into the arms of her father. tears swelled into his eyes while he asked mindy what happened.

they regretted not being there for her, but mindy quickly spoke up, "sam and tara were with her. they kept her safe for as long as she could, and she decided that she wanted to be the one to kill ethan. she didn't want to die without doing something in her life."

at that, sierra sat up and wiped her nose. "that sounds like her," she laughed.

the rest of the romero's time at the apartment was spent with mindy telling stories about her memories with valentina.

they all just wished that valentina could've been there, right by mindy's side, telling the stories with her.
