Despite the deepening bond between Shan and Muthuu, the tension at home continued to escalate. Ananda's disapproval of their relationship became more overt, and he didn't hesitate to express his concerns whenever the opportunity arose.
One evening, after a particularly heated argument, Shan stormed into his room, slamming the door behind him. The sound of the door slamming reverberated through the house, but it was nothing compared to the storm of anger and frustration inside him. His father's harsh words still echoed in his ears, a relentless reminder of the chasm growing between them.
"You think that girl is going to bring you anything but trouble?" Ananda had sneered.
"She's not right for you, Shan. She'll only drag you down."
Shan had felt a surge of rage, his hands clenched into fists. His father’s words felt like a slap in the face, each one cutting deeper than the last.
"You don't know anything about her, Appachchi!"
Shan had shouted back, his voice trembling with emotion.
"She's the only one who actually cares about me!"
Ananda's eyes had narrowed, his voice cold and unyielding.
"I'm your father, Shan. I know what's best for you, even if you don't see it yet. That girl... she's not good enough for you. You'll thank me one day for keeping you away from her."
The finality in his father’s tone had been like a wall, impenetrable and unforgiving. Shan had left the room, the anger burning inside him like a relentless fire. The walls of his room seemed to close in on him, suffocating him with their oppressive weight.
In the solitude of his room, Shan paced back and forth, his mind a chaotic whirl of emotions. He felt torn between the love he had for Muthuu and the suffocating expectations of his father. The constant pressure was wearing him down, pulling him in two directions. He felt trapped in a never-ending battle between his heart and his family's demands.
Sitting on the edge of his bed, he stared at his phone, which buzzed with a message from Muthuu. Her words were a lifeline, a small beacon of light in the darkness.
-Muthuu- "I hope you're okay. I'm thinking of you."
A small, sad smile tugged at the corners of Shan's mouth. Muthuu had this incredible ability to sense when he was in pain, even from a distance. He quickly typed a reply, his fingers moving over the screen with a mix of hope and sorrow.
-Shan- "I'm okay. Just had another fight with Appachchi. He doesn't understand... but I know you do. I miss you."
The reply came almost instantly, her words full of warmth and support.
-Muthuu- "I miss you too. We'll get through this, Shan. I'm here for you, no matter what."
Shan’s heart ached with longing as he read her words. The longing to be with her, to feel her warmth and hear her reassuring voice, was almost too much to bear. He wished he could escape the tension at home and find solace in her presence. For now, her words were a fragile comfort, a reminder that even in the darkest moments, he wasn’t completely alone.
