Yay! I actually did something!
--------------------------------------------------------------"A-are we almost there..?" a voice asked. The sun was setting, and they still hadn't found shelter. A blizzard was nearing on the horizon, slowly getting closer by the second.
The older Drone sighed softly. "We'll find somewhere... We always do..." they assured the child. They had tired eyes and seemed like they were on the verge of tears constantly.
They were on their own in what remained of their broken world. Their colony was destroyed in a Disassembly Drone attack, and they had nowhere to go. The child always seemed so sad and confused, their normally bright eyes growing dimmer day by day. It was heartbreaking for the older Drone, but they pushed onwards in the hopes of finding themselves a new home, but their hopes were dwindling.
The older Drone hugged the child close, bracing themselves against the growing gusts of wind that threatened to knock them over. They'd almost made it to an abandoned outpost, where they could rest and wait out the nearing storm. They never would've wished such an awful life on anyone, yet here they were. Isolated, alone, constantly in danger... It was horrible.
"The sun is getting lower..." the child said quietly, a hint of fear in their voice. They'd had to mature way too fast, their childhood completely ripped away as they were thrown into this situation. The older Drone hated this. They didn't want this kid, this child, who should be out playing around the colony, having fun, being a kid, to have to go through all this, but they didn't have much of a choice. There wasn't anything they could do other than find a colony, but even then chances were rather slim...
The older Drone let out a sigh. "I know, we can make it..." No, they hoped they could make it. There were no guarantees, not now, not ever. They could just drop dead at any time, and who would care? No one, they would just be two more bodies in the ever growing pile. They shuddered at the thought of seeing the child's mutilated body, which genuinely scared them. Such a small thing, torn to shreds easily by the beasts, the killers, the reason for all of this crap.
There was an increasingly worrying atmosphere as the sun sank lower and the space between them and the storm slowly closed. A few more steps through the deep snow landed them on the front steps of the outpost, which, like majority of the other doors, were unlocked. The older Drone breathed a deep sigh of relief as they made it inside, but they didn't stop there. The safest place would be the basement, as it would be harder for the Disassembly Drones to find them.
They just had to keep their hopes up that they'd make it another night, even if the chances were slim.

"Where are we even going..." Jayde hissed to herself as a chilly wind battered her face. The snow infront of them seemed to get thicker as she and S traversed the snowy terrain, which wasn't good for visibility at all. Infact, it only made it even more dangerous!
S looked over at her, moving in a bit closer. [No clue] she displayed on her visor before standing right next to Jayde and holding her close.
Jayde hated to admit it, but she was getting fond of the Disassembler, even if their kind was the reason she was out here right now. S was one of the reasons she was here, and she didn't know what to think. Her mind was too conflicted right now, and she didn't want to risk accidentally spacing out, even for a moment while they were heavily exposed out here in the middle of nowhere.
"We need to get into cover," Jayde hissed softly. "Can we fly to try finding somewhere?"
S brought out her wings hesitantly. It might be a bit dangerous to carry a passenger in these winds, but Jayde would try her hardest to stay safe. [I think, hold on tight] she advised Jayde before picking up the Worker Drone and carefully lifting her up into the sky.
The intensifying winds and snow only made it harder to see. Jayde looked around with wide eyes, desperately trying to spot something, anything! They just needed someplace to wait through the day and get out of the snow. "S, I can't see anything!" Jayde yelled. Her brows were furrowed as she looked, but to no avail.
S flew a tad bit faster, holding Jayde tightly as she started to struggle from the wind. Jayde could tell she was struggling, as usually S wasn't so unstable in the sky.
Jayde yelped in surprise as S swerved downwards, wrapping Jayde with her wings and trying to keep her as safe as possible. The two began to plummet as the winds only intensified. The gusts were getting concerning, as that must've been what tossed them right out of the sky. They finished their quick decent to the snowy ground with a thud as their fall was cushioned by the snow.
The two laid there for a moment, their breathing heavy. S opened her wings and let them fall to the side, letting go of Jayde. The worker stood up and looked down at S, who looked like she was in a bit of pain, all while being exhausted.
"Too much wind..." Jayde hissed to herself, her brows furrowing. She held out a hand to S, who quickly took it and stood up with Jayde's assistance. She would never understand how those Disassemblers even stood on their peg-legs.
S shook some snow off herself, reluctantly putting her wings away. She looked around with clear concern as the snow grew thicker and thicker. [Where do we go now?] S asked. Her eyes were hollow and she had her wings wrapped around herself. She even looked like she was on the verge of tears.
Jayde rapidly glanced at their surroundings, her breathing heavy. "I- I think- Maybe-" she was shaking slightly, her panic clear. "I... I don't know, S... I don't know..." She hugged her arms around herself, knowing that she'd messed up. She should know where she was going, but instead she was clueless. She'd failed. She squeezed her eyes shut, trying her hardest not to break down into tears. "I'm sorry... I failed..."
Nothing happened for a moment before S pulled her close, wrapping her bladed wings around her. Jayde hesitantly opened her eyes, letting out a small sigh. "What do we do..." she hissed to herself.
S carefully picked up Jayde and started walking, using her wings to shield them both from the snow and the winds. Jayde didn't think S even knew where she was going, but she honestly trusted her. She never thought she'd trust a Disassembler, of all drones, yet here she was.
---
Jayde didn't know what happened in the time that they'd been walking, but S started to panic. She looked around and noticed the sun rising, her eyes hollowing. S started to run, still holding Jayde tightly.
Getting desperate, Jayde tried to spot shelter, noticing an outpost coming into view on the horizon. "THERE!" she hollered. That should be good shelter.
S' foot hit the doorstep as the sun hit her tail. She threw Jayde inside and ran in after, slamming the door shut. She looked at her tail with wide eyes.
"Hey... At least we made it..." Jayde said with a sigh of relief. "It would've been much worse if we hadn't..." She glanced at S' tail with a grimace, as it was burnt and even smoking slightly. Even the simple thought of S ending up like that deeply disturbed Jayde.
[Sorry...] S apologized on her visor, letting her tail rest gently on the ground. The Disassembly Drone sat down on the ground, clearly exhausted.
Wind was battering the side of the outpost, making quite the racket. It honestly scared Jayde, as the last thing she wanted was bad winds. Why did storms and wind scare her so badly, but she could face a Disassembler without getting scared?
Jayde let out a soft sigh and sat next to S. "Don't be... You did nothing wrong..." It was their fault that they'd let themselves be caught in the weather, and nearly in the sun. She leaned her head on her friend's shoulder, relaxing for once after all that stress. It was nice to not be constantly afraid. She knew she didn't need to be scared. She was safe.
