They knew there was something clearly wrong with them. They'd felt it. They'd felt hunger around other Drones. They knew this wasn't normal. It wasn't safe.

They had decent parents and amazing friends, but they'd been isolating themselves from them. They'd seen the symbol in their dreams multiple times, and even absentmindedly drawn it on their paper. These drawings of horrifying things and the strange symbol were stored away, hidden. They just didn't want anyone to find them.

They couldn't stay here, they risked everyone's lives by staying.

They were leaving.

They'd packed nothing and said nothing, not to anyone. The vents served as a great way to hide while leaving, as they'd done many times before, but this time they weren't coming back.

They'd killed two Disassemblers not long ago... A lucky shot on one and ripping out the other's core, crushing it with ease. Even worse, they'd been unable to stop themselves and eaten both of the corpses, nearly killing other drones in the colony as well.

Too dangerous.

They were a threat to everyone.

Everything.

The vents were easier to navigate the more often they did it. Though they weren't completely silent, they were still quiet enough to not be easily noticed or heard. They'd memorized the path from their room to Door One, the only thing keeping them away from the outside.

Soon they opened the bolted on vent with surprising and concerning ease, that same symbol appearing again. Why?

They jumped down, landing on the cold ground and quickly getting the door open.

The second they got out, they brought out their strange new fleshy wings and tail, taking off into the dark sky. They'd learned the hard way that the sun would hurt them, as they'd gotten bad burns while coming back the other day.

Where would they go?

The stars and moons shone brightly right now, nearly all three were full. It was quite pleasant, to say the least, but also quite awful when they remembered their situation.

They flew as far as their wings could take them, Not daring to stop. Soon they swooped downwards, landing at an outpost. They breathed a sigh of relief and rushed inside, knowing there was no going back. Hopefully their parents assumed they were dead, as that would be safer for them. For everyone.

This was their home now, where they'd be alone for who knows how long...

It was better this way.

S awoke with a silent yawn, stretching slightly after sleeping against the wall. Yeah, sitting on the floor to sleep wasn't exactly the most comfortable. She looked at Jayde, who was currently still sleeping. The Worker had her head rested on S' shoulder as she slept. S couldn't help but smile at this. It ment that Jayde actually trusted her, or at least she hoped.

She really did need some kind of friend... She'd already abandoned her own squad and attacked her leader, which was more than enough to get her cast away.

And all for what? A hope that this Worker wouldn't abandon her? The fact that she just wanted to find someone who didn't treat her like a piece of trash? She honestly didn't know at this point, but she did know that this was much better than the life she'd thrown away.

She didn't want to be feared by everyone, it just wasn't who she really was.

She let out a sigh and wrapped her tail around Jayde, holding her close. She knew they both needed some form of comfort, as they'd both left behind their lives. Why? Why did they even do that? Why would Jayde leave her perfect little life in a perfect little colony? Too many questions, yet she couldn't get an answer. She flinched slightly as Jayde shifted, grumbling something quietly before resuming her soft snoring.
