*-Chapter 13: The Dread Of The Task-*

The days past quickly each one drawing him closer to inevitable danger.The mere thought made him wince.

*The training we receive at the castle is already harsh..what would it be like there?...*Leo stirred the soup in his bowl with a metal spoon thoughtfully ,gilded decorations engraved on it.He didn't dare tell the other Lunas what mess he'd brought them into, he simply couldn't ;furthermore, there were 3 more years ahead of them..he could tell them any other time..

"What the matter Li?"Ares questioned Leo.
"Li?"Leo stared back like a puzzled puppy.
"It's a nickname for you -Li- Frost is Fri as in 'free' Zion is Zi and Leo is Li,"Ares explained.

"More like you put 'e' after every initial of ours,"Zion was staring at a book in his hands

"Sheesh you never do stop reading do you,"Frost  tilted his head upside down to get a better look at the book in Zion's hands.
"He had a point .The only time Zion wasn't holding a book was when he had to use the restroom,"Leo nodded silently at Frost .

It had been 2 whole  months since the talk he had with the vampires,but he remebered it so vividly that it felt like it was yesterday.

"Man training was intense today,right?"Ares was the first to leave the cafeteria, the tears training behind him."It's almost like we have to fight something lethal or something,"Ares yawned ,his arms stretching wide almost blinding Frost who stood beside him. Leo shot him an apprehensive look,but decided that Ares was only guessing hopefully.

Trying to distract Ares from getting any more ideas Leo said,"That massive brown door is really getting on my  patience Ari,"Leo stared at Ares,making sure Ares focused on the door instead.
Ares smiled,"Aww, see you just called me an nickname it wasn't hard was it?"Ares nudged Leo in the shoulder,his appreciative smile broad and firm."Yeah haha,"Leo faked a laugh while scratching the back of his neck.

"Well well well if it isn't the Lunas wandering ,"Rain sheathed his iron longsword.He then cracked a smile,walking with them down the hallway,"What are you guys going to do now that you've finished training and ate ,"he asked casually interfering with their discussion as if he had always been part of it.
Ares shrugged,"Probably go outside to the garden now that we have permission."
"Good good and um Leo have you thought about the talk that we had from 2 months?" Rain stared directly Staring at Leo now.
Leo gulped then nodded,"It's not like ihave a choice do I?"
"That's the spirit,"Rain chuckled then walked down the corridor Whistling nonchalantly to himself, leaving Leo befuddled.

The moment Rain left, all the others turned on Leo. "What does he mean about talk,"Frost furrowed his eyebrows at Leo.
"You gonna explain or not ,"Zion dropped the book and permitted his eyes to glow bright gold while Frost's white eyes beamed right after Zion.Then Ares snapped his fingers,"Rain was talking about the talk from 2 months ago when we all were asked to leave ,but Leo was asked to stay behind,"
Everyone's eyes widened in realisation."Care to explain Leo?"Ares eyes shined  green like grass."Woah chill guys it's not that deep,"it was his turn for his eyes to glow.They glowed red-just like blood.
"I don't think it's not 'not that deep' if Rain himself came to ask you,"Zion stared at Leo,eyes full of menace.Infact Leo had never seen Zion that menacing before.
"Is that why you didn't talk to anyone that morning and stayed silent,you were still thinking about it weren't you!" Ares snapped,forcing Leo's gaze back at him.
"Guys,mabye it wasn't that deep.I mean mabye Leo's upset about something else,"Frost decided to stick up for Leo all of a sudden.
"Shut up Fri!"Ares and Zion said in one breath.
"Woah Chill,"Leo and Frost said in another simultaneous breath.

Just then footstep could be heard.
"Oh my god! don't fight you guys are best friends !"A feminine voice said ,drawing nearer.It was Maya.Ares merely shook his head and said through gritted teeth,"It's nothing Maya."
Maya's eyes narrowed,but she waved her hands in dismissal."Anyway I am entering a baking competition, and I wanted somone to try my cake and tell me how how tastes could you guys?"Maya stared at them impatiently,yet her smile never vanished.
"Sure we will,"Leo said hastily trying to change the subject.She drew out 4  forks out of no where and handed each to them.*Had she always had them..yeah probably we just didn't see them because we were fighting*Leo thought ,directing the  fork to his lips.After all,she seemed human like her  mother unlike her twin brother or father."Wow this is delicious,"Ares stared at it like a lion would stare at an injured prey.All of the other Lunas nodded.It was scrumptious."What flavour is this?"Frost's voice came out muffled through a handful of cake.
"Blue Berry and straw Berry,"she smiled warmly at the Lunas."

Here have more I can always make more of it,"she gestured at one of the two maids who were bringing the 3-layer cake.*It looked stunning*Ares thought.Just as the princess offered the first slice of cake to any of them,she saw that all the hands had been extended.Ares stared fiercely at each one of them,then he said,"OH IT'S ON!"
He snatched the cake from Maya's grip and was about to put it in his mouth when Leo interfered his dagger cutting in the middle of the cake from barely entering Ares mouth.He smiled and threw it in the air to catch it in his mouth when 'BOOM!' Frost lunged at Leo thrusting his hands to the ground as the cake went flying,surprisingly it had a fixed position ,it still looked like how the Princess ahd offered it ,but with some minor changes.Zion caught caught before Frost had caught up,he spawned  a palnt where Frost was standing,trapping him for a few seconds before he managed to escape.With no hesitaition,Aresscrambled to his feet and launched at it .It flew in the air.Without a second thought ,they all turned on each other .Each of them doing what they had in their power to prevent the other from falling then the cake started to fall,They did all that in the precious second the cake was falling,They all lunged at the same time,but came to a halt.Mila was standing in the middle of them ,studying the cake in her hands as if it was an interesting puzzle.Then she swallowed it ,leaving all the Lunas flabbergasted.
"Deelic-e-s,"she giggled.Ares dropped to his knees staring at the four year old who had just put all their efforts in vain.It was futile."Mila no,"Frost stared at Mila,dread in his eyes,yet he knew he couldn't even yell at her because 1.she was a kid and 2.She was Forneus's daughters.Zion picked up his book,shook his head then merely continued reading.Leo sat on the ground his hands on his cheeks as he saw the crumbs of it falling down.

Maya cleared her throat,drawing all the attention back to her."There's still al whole load more ,you know,"she placed a hand infront of her mouth,clearly struggling to suppress   a laugh.
"Oh,right,"Ares's face burned bright red,"um can I have a slice?"
She broke out into fits of laughter and cut a slice for each,each of whom looked at her liek she was a mad scientist who discovered a brilliant invention to end world hunger.After eating 4 slices each,they smiled at each other,with much friendliness  that it looked that they hadn't been fighting just minutes ago.
